invariably, someone will undoubtedly ask....so, out of respect for its owner (yes, i am sure it belongs to someone), please do not disclose its location (as i am sure you are already mindful of that).

I have to agree with that first paragraph especially. I grew up in Forest Hill Toronto and a car in our underground could look like that in a month or two. Maybe it WAS there 2 years or maybe there's some exaggeration by the original poster.

We had MANY cars that were almost never driven. One Volvo was down there for 15 years!! There was a '67 Newport that'd been there for over 20!!! The Newport was just an older guy who'd stopped driving and still lived in the building. He'd even lost the ownership.

There was a '39 DeSoto that hadn't moved in 5 years. At first they'd store it there in the winter. Eventually it was there more and more in the summer until it eventually just sat there. I believe that case was a family dispute.

There are MANY reasons that car could be there and the owner may walk by there every day. Personally I just don't think there's that much dust on it.

I myself had one car parked for 3 years and used to go down and use a bucket and sponges to wash the dust off time to time. I was a kid and couldn't afford to drive it. Maybe this is a guy who's not a kid but still can't afford to drive the Ferrari?, (Insurance, etc) but wants to keep it until he can?

I've always thought it sad that I live in a city myself where you can't leave anything anywhere because someone will steal it, (I once had a '51 Chev parked in the underground and some guys who were down there working for the building stole the sparkplug wires!! I knew it was them as I HAD been down there regularly that day and I guess because that car was dusty...........but I couldn't prove it. Though what a coincidence that the wires were in place earlier that day and missing 20 minutes after these clowns left!! They just assumed the "owner" never went down there yet I'd been in and out of the garage all day!) and here is someone suggesting that because the car is there he has a right to steal it!!!

The owner also may have multiple homes such as Hong Kong and is currently there. Possibly even something came up and hasn't meant to not return. I know many people that have had similiar things happen. One friend of mine went to Hong Kong during the changeover to see how it would effect her business interests both here and there before she made a decision. I hadn't seen her in 6 months as she was there all that time. Normal for some.

IE: Rap star! (Oh wait, can't be. Doesn't have "Retard rims" on it!)

I've always referred to it as "The ***hands".

They may have removed them so they wouldn't be stolen. Around here, they'd often be gone!

I don't know if I CAN read his MySpace. Might have a heart attack from mocking him. (Already have Congestive Heart failure, gotta be careful!! HAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!!!). Glad the owner piped in. I'm glad to see F-Chatters helped as usual! Congrats everyone!

I know of a 57 Chevy convertible that has been in a parking garage for 20 years or more. Several have seen it. The owner is overseas and pays the storage fees. And of course, it is NOT for sale. I've tried and so have others.

Didn't read the whole thread but the car has not been sitting there for 2 years. The tires would be flat or atleast very low with flat spots. The car most likely get driven very little like most exotics.

What a joke. What sort of scumbag would take a car he suspected of being abandoned?

Any chance of that individual doing the decent thing, even if it WAS abandonded, and looking for the rightful owner.

What a total looser. I'm glad the owner has come forward. I really wouldnt want to be the clown who was considering getting it on a flat bad. Want a Ferrari? Work a litte harder, dont go stealing someone elses.

*fights urge to throw in one other profane slice of abuse*

    All the best

In this world? Lots of people.

I'm about to get on my soapbox....

Nobody values their own name anymore. Or maybe it is cool to steal? I know if I ever got caught up in anything fishy, the humiliation and embarrassment would kill me. Today, kids have digital camcorders and film themselves doing illegal things and post it on the internet. I can't figure it out. Heck, Martha Stewart went to jail for ripping people off with illegal insider trading, and she is still on television acting like the perfect housewife and she shows no shame or regret. Rosie Odonell is a self admitted homosexual and she is the moderator of a talk show with Barbara Walters. In what world do we allow these people to be "leaders"? At the same time, Christianity is pushed out of public places. So instead of hearing "stealing is wrong", we get to hear "pleasure your bodies and rip off your neighbors".

We live in a world where many people will think you are naive or stupid if you don't steal that abandoned Ferrari. Then you get the hysteria of people thinking "If everyone else is doing it, I don't want to be left behind". It's the same as the guy who posted here about ripping off his Rolex dealer and showing pride for getting away with it.

Welcome to the bridge that Bill Clinton built to the 21rst century.

Ummmm....I do not think that Bill Clinton is totally responsible for the general publics lack of moral backbone, general depravity, and ability of so many people to go to church on Sunday and screw people over on Monday when they go to work, all the while thinking, 'Hey, it is not ME who is the bad person....it is everyone else'. Interesting theory though.

What got me about Martha was watching the news the day she took her limo home from jail and seeing her actually GLOATING!! And of course the fact she was practically made a HERO for being a CRIMINAL!! (Kind of like Rap "singers"!!). And then the media acted like Martha was the VICTIM when she had planned and purposely broken the law.

    I agree. Sad!

Some very good posts here, and some lame ones.

When I was parking my Ferrari in a semi-public parking in a capital city, I always put an indoor car cover on the car.

    1) Idiots would not come look at it,
    2) Dust would deposit on the cover, not the car.

    :D

Glad about the happy ending anyway.

Look. If you think this is the real thing, contact the garage owners and ask their opinion. See if they're being paid rent for this car (they probably are or it would not be there). Now, call the police. If it's reported stolen or abandoned, they'll know. Otherwise, forget it. It's just another of life's damn shames.

Just so you guys know, if a car has been sitting for a very long time you can alert the DMV about it, and apparently, the car is yours if no one reports it missing or claims it after a while (they might advertise it I think).

I had my car reported as abandoned by a neighbor in an apartment building. Apparently he was annoyed that I had the best parking spot for a week because I walked to the station and took the train to work.

He had his kid let the air out of one tire to "prove" it was abandoned.

You should have heard me rip the property manager a new one after I listened to the message he left on my answering machine.

The nasty neighbor moved out a couple of months later, and I heard he was diagnosed with lung cancer and died withing six weeks of the diagnosis. I felt bad for his kids, but sometimes people get what they deserve.

Hey jackass - NOBODY deserves to die from cancer, let alone anything else.

The only exceptions are murderers, child molesters and those that have bilked people out of all of their retirements ala Enron principals, for example.

You think he deserved to die because he had his son let air out of your tires?

You need help. I don't know what else to say.

I wouldn't say he deserved it, but if it was true that he was trying to get someones property taken away by lying/ fraud/ etc., then karma has a way of catching up.
