At the moment I plan on being there, just have to get the details sorted out, I'm assuming tickets are still for sale.

Got our tickets quite a while ago from Ticketmaster. Price depends on what events you plan to attend. We're only going for the ALMS race Saturday night. Went last year - great racing but then again our preference is for this type of event over F1 of late. Don't buy a grandstand seat(at least in the case of the ALMS race) ! ! ! of all the ALMS races we've attended,we've never gotten anything but GA. It doesn't make sense to pay for a seat and only see one small portion of the track and if lucky you may have a big tv screen in front of you. We spend a bunch of time at the turn last year where Mika locked it up coming into it - interesting and trackside by the large tv.

With the fixing being done to the surface this year it should be a better race. We'll be cheering for Risi #62 and obviously without question Audi #1.

    Should be a good show!

At least it doesn't stack on top of Art Cars this year...that was a little intense in 2006......

If I am in town, I will attend maybe one day. I am flying overseas sometime around that time.

For the FCA members amongst you who want to attend the whole show, Grady is organizing a nice event with food, drinks, TV screens, tickets, VIP parking and a track drive.

Thanks for the advice, I was thinking of getting a ticket to see the champ car race as well but if the price is a big difference I'll probably just go with the ALMS race.

The Houston Chapter has a tent, complete with food, booze and a place out of the sun. Suggest you contact Grady Owens or Bob Weiner about getting tickets. Also, there will be a place to park your car in front of the tent. Last year it was next to the Corvette and Porsche Tents. Nice People.

In 2006 the battery on my 360 decided to go south, but getting to ride in a F-50 was compensation. We did a slow lap of the track.

We had a great time and I'm sure that the same will be said for 2007.

Don't fret about any Ferrari's in the parking lot - the best ones will be #62, #32, #31 and #61. As with all ALMS races your GA ticket also includes the paddock. Don't remember if they did the grid walk at HOU last year but with all the ALMS races we've attended, that's part of the game. You can see Ferrari's in the parking lot any time but unless you attend other ALMS races, you won't see the aforementioned ones. The paint job on the PWL #32 is awesome. That one will be the competition for #62. We were in Sebring last weekend and that race was one of the best ever.

Don't you have to purchase the pit pass separate from the GA ticket? Also anything you would recommend bringing, other than a camera? are there places for seats in any of the GA sections?

As I understand it, the "pit pass" is what gets you into the Champ cars (not worth the dollars to see spec cars). The way Houston was constructed last year I didn't think you could get to the pit area like you can at all the other races during the race - (if that makes any sense). The paddock is where the ALMS cars are. We only bought the GA tickets. Yes, there's a stand or two in the GA sections but as I mentioned, at an ALMS race you normally don't want to be in the same place all the time, especially when you can't see the majority of the track. The only ALMS race where we stayed seated for the entire race was Laguna Seca last year - start/finish, and that track quite a bit is visible plus the jumbotron tvs. It will be interesting to see if the big tv's will be in Houston as word has it they won't be at the ALMS races this year but since this is a Champ car race too they probably will be there.

We have scanners that we take to the races - John Hindy's commentary of the race is by far the best and you can also listen to the teams. With the scanner a noise cancelling headset is a must. Some of the teams (Audi for one) have scrambled transmissions and often use freqs not on the typical scanner.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice, if the pit pass is not needed to see the ALMS cars up close and personal, then that's even more good news. Don't think I'll be dropping the cash for scanners, but the more racing events I attend I'm sure i'll acquire some at some point.

You are going to miss one heck of a good race in Houston - you can always go to MSR. The course will most likely favor the Spyders and the F430's will be battling it out for GT2 - should be a good fight with the Risi #62 and #45 Flying Lizards. The Acuras will definitely challenge the Spyders once again and I'm cheering for Audi #1 for overall. The ALMS races make F1 look like a walk in the park.

I just got a call from my sister in Houston, My brother-in-law's company has stepped in as a last minute team sponsor. I'm not sure what team but details will follow. She set aside some VIP passes for me in case I decide to go.
