Year 1, F1, the oil cans of Fosters looked pretty handy to me also. Never again. Also look out for the private vendors with Rum Runners under F1 turn 1. Our women went south on us there in year 3.

My comment after drinking some not so great white wine yesterday:

This horse definitely had diabetes. :)

It has been a couple of days and no one has chimed in with an official wine. So perhaps all of you "whiners" suggesting I switch to squished grapes should embrace barley and hops as the choice of true race fans!

    Bring on da keg!

I hereby declare the official wine for Tifosi to be Prosecco. This is a fantastic ITALIAN sparkling white wine. We celebrated the start of the F1 race in Imola last year with a bottle of same our friends from London brought to the race. Fantastico ..... I have a preference for the extra dry.

Another great way to watch a race and celebrate Ferrari is with Limoncello. . remembering a little goes a long way. Prefer the Limoncello over the Orangecello. Hey, there's Grappa too....(about 40-60 % alcohol by volume) for those early morning coffee drinkers Grappa can be put in espresso.

For the French GP at Magny Cours, I highly recommend one of my favorite beers (which is a French one) -> 1664 - have purchased at Walmart, HEB, Central Market.

For the next race, I would suggest Tiger Beer - goes great with chicken/cucumber club sandwiches.

    Cheers

    Carol

As far as I know it has no F1 ties, but the Belgian beer Stella Artois is my personal fave. As far as wine, any cheap boxed wine drank from a mason jar will suffice ;)

Grappa!?! Carol, you are hard core! I have a bottle brought back from Italy. The stuff evaporates in my throat before it ever gets to my stomach!

Less than a week until the race, Tiger is the beer du jour. Drink up in the name of togetherness!

Grappa is a great choice for watching auto racing because it tastes like GASOLINE.

I'm on a big Smithwick's kick right now. Or else we could just take our cues from "Grand Prix":

    "Have you ever had ouzo?"
"My dear. I have had everything"
"Last night, we drank ouzo. A LOT of ouzo."

So you should drink champaign (or sparkling wine, if you insist on being proper about the naming convention) with your F1 breakfast. Nothing better!

Thanks for the thoughts. Singa is my choice for Baharain (see post #11) so I'll stick with Tiger for Malaysia. Becks is an easy find and there are many options for Germany but I'm not sure about your Spa suggestion, I'll have to check the local stores. I have a bottle of Asahi so unless someone suggest otherwise that's the winner for Japan. Any Sapporo fans care to chime in?

tiger is a damm fine beer.

kirin is an alternative, not sure about sapporo.

leffe is another for belguim, they have some pretty weird brews (champagne type beers ETC) but stella is usually the way to go.

    1.) Mackeson's XXX - (on draft)

    2.) Murphy's Stout - (in a can)

2.) Young's Double Chocolate Stout (in a can)

3.) Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout (on draft)

4.) Summit Porter (beer that you can chew on!)

5.) Negra Modelo (coming in a close 2nd as my favorite Mexican beer)

6.) Spaten Oktoberfest (many consider this one of the finest)

7.) Czechvar Premium (very refreshing and easy to drink imho)

8.) Grolsch (a good alternative to Heineken)

9.) Dos Equis XX (my all-around favorite Mexican beer)

10.) Abita Purple Haze (saved the last one here for something great outta left field!)

I've got a bottle of #1 on my shelf and glad to see Abita on your list. I did a 10k this morning and Abita is one of the sponsors; no Purple Haze but I had plenty of Amber.

I had to Google that one. Talk about strange timing, earlier tonight I bought a six pack of Sam Adams Summer Ale and from the review of Leinie's Summer Shandy they are similar brews.
