Idecide to buy a Capristo exhaust for my 355. Everybody says it is best sounding than the tubi, on the 355.
But, what level must I buy?
On capristo site, it's said that levell 3 is only for motor racing purposes. Is that so? is that soooo noisy, that it can't be used on open roads?
I imagine it is illegal, but level 2 must be also illegal, as it is any change you do to a standard car.
Is there anybody with a level 3 caprristo that drives his car in towns and open roads? Don't talk to me about track days because that's not what I need.
It's not easy to quantify the noise of an exhaust system just listening it on a videoclip.
Hope you can help me choose what level to buy.

    Thanks.

    Nuno.

Before you buy...consider the X-ost that Daniel at Ricambi sells

I was wondering the same thing too about the Capristo. Curious to hear what feedback owners might offer.

Since a couple of monthes everybody talks about the X-ost, here in Ferrarichat. Why, is it better than Tubi or Capristo, louder or less expensive?
I thought that the capristo was the reccomended exhaust for the 355.

I would get the Level I, because when the bypass valve is open, it is straight through anyway.

Do you mean that when the valve is opened there is not any difference between the three levels of Capristo?

I have just got my car back last week with Capristo (level 2) and Hyperflows.
Sound now and before (stock) is night and day difference.
At idle it does not have that typical Tubi burble.
At above 4K rpm (when that bypass valve opens) the sound is pure F1 and is to die for!
Oh..and no resonance at highway crusing speed either.
I'm very happy with the sound setup now.
Would recommand this combo of Cap 2 + Hyperflows to any 355 owner.
    Hope this helps.

edit: yes, it's hard to quantify different sound setups from various sound clips dowloaded from the internet. I made my decision after hearing Tubi+Hyperflows vs. Capristo+Hyperflows in person and went with the clear winner.

Level 2, for most, level 3 is too loud.

Agree with above. For a spider consider Level 1......just as loud at acceleration, quieter for cruising than the level 2. On a 355 level 3 would be over kill unless track only car.
Due to the bypass on 355's, when vacuum opens the valve, the car SCREAMS!!!!! I have Hyperflows and Level 1 Capristo's and I am very pleased. They are beautifully made, high quality parts, too.....too bad you can't really see them unless you crawl under the car!

I just got my car back w/ new Stebo headers, hyper flows and tubi and I can't imagine improving upon it. If you want loud and solid you get it when you hit the gas. If you want a little more civilized when sitting at a light w/ traffic, it reigns itself in. But.....OH Boy, when you get on it....INSANE!

I have had level one for nearly 3 years. Level one is what ya need on a spider. 2 and 3 on a spider is to much.
Went on a long run with about 10 other exotics three weeks ago, including F430s, a 360 with an X-orst, a Gallardo and Muchilargo. My level one De-Catted Capristo was voted best sounding car of the day hands down;) Trust me dude...level one rocks. Many tubi owners have heard a Capristo in the flesh and changed over.

I have the Level 1 Capristo exhaust with Hyper-Flow cats on my 355 GTS and for me, the sound is about perfect, especially on longer trips. I also live in a quiet, hilly, residential neighborhood where a little less noise while coming or going is greatly appreciated. Quality of the Capristo system is top-notch.

Gersh did you feel any "seat of the pants" power increase with the stebo/hyper/tubi setup???

I was at the Crescent Classic last fall and a friend has his 355B which has a Capristo level 3 on it. I was behind that car for about 50 miles and was intoxicated by the sound. There were a lot of great cars at the event and everyone agreed that that car had the best sound of any car there. I recently purchase a 355 Serie Fiorano and had a level 3 put on the car as I liked it so much. I had to convince Kevin at MVP that this is what I really wanted - I also have as Diablo SV with test pipes and a tubi. I will pick it up this weekend and let ya'll know what I think, but the boys at Motorcars Intl tell me the sound is amazing. I can't wait!!!

BTW, as they say, if it is too loud you are too old.

LOL, point well taken. Doesn't seem to be an issue around here, though. A lot of folks have commented that my Dialo is loud, but no issues thus far and I have been pulled over by our local's finest for... The 355 has the standard setup besides the Capristo so the noise level is "reasonable" at lower RPMs. It is only when you get on it that the screamin' banshi is unleashed. But the above quote still stands and I intend to use it if it gets that far :) . Now if my wife gets dinged, well she is on her own!! After all, the F355 is is for her.

Maybe an overnighter in jail will keep her humble..but if she looks real good she will be able to talk her way out of it...which is what my wife does all the time, but let me get behind the wheel and there is no mercy ...lol

I had no idea what nuainces I was missing with the stock headers. I just took the car out this past weekend and tried out some different things.

    - The car has a much, much better "note" between 4000-5500 RPM when on the expressway in 5th gear and punching up to 7500 RPM or so. Sound is vastly complete.
-Don't notice any real difference at idle. The Hyper Flows account for the burbling at deceleration and low (vroom) RPMs. Hipes give it the low growl.
-Also noticed considerable improvement in total quality of sound through the gear range.
-Sound is much fuller at cruising speeds (70mph) and when you hit it and the bypass opens up - there is no doubt the sound is vastly richer.
I had several "suicide jockeys" on their speed bikes come up next to me at a light we all punched it up to 45mph. It was difficult hearing their bikes but the whole thing sounded like, the second coming...Incredible.
-I wouldn't say there is much difference in torque but I haven't really gotten on it. I'm also not the best judge as my "seat of the pants" is not as sensitive as other younger seats.
-Lets face it we all have to replace headers sooner or later - factory heads are going to crack. I just had no idea what potential was there aside from the old "exhaust" and "cats" debate. I call it my TRIFECTA
Am I pleased? No doubt! Wouldn't change a thing!
