Good day CF and Tj, Thanks for the Kudos! Although Edmonton has a short driving season (May to Oct), I make up for it by driving my BB as much as I can... sometimes almost daily. Last season, I drove over 500 kms in one month! Cheers, Sam
Good day CH, No, Wayne (as in Gretzky) did not have a BB here. There was a 1979 BB (Red Black Boxer trim) sort of owned by Peter Pocklington (a previous owner of the Oilers that brought Wayne to Edm). Consequently, Wayne could have drove it. As for Peter Pocklington, I say sort of owned it, as I believe the car was actually owned by Westown Ford which was one of Peter Pocklington's companies. Rumor also had it that Peter Pocklington had owned or had access to a 308 GTB that Oiler players could drive around in. I never did see this car, but had heard of it through various people. As for Peter Pocklington's BB, I remember this car very well, as it was my first to see (and sit, view, stare, ... and drool) in person. The car was for sale at Foreign and Classic cars/Grand Prix motors around 1982/83. I can't remember the exact asking price, but I seem to remember it being around $85K at that time. As for Edm trivia in general, there are/was a variety of very special cars here. I remember one or two Daytona Spiders, several Daytona coupes (Edm did have its own Ferrari dealership in the late 70's and very early 80s called Devonian Motors), Lambos, Phantom RRs, etc. Sadly, most of these cars were rarely driven and would seldom be seen. In the mid 80s there was at least 90-100 RRs in the city. I know this for certain, as the specialty garage I worked in (after schools, etc) used to regularly service them. Cheers, Sam
