The "oil leak" I'd mentioned previously is being handled by Vintage Motor Cars in Houston (evintagemotorcars.com) under warranty as professionally and courteously as you could imagine. Great guy.

At the same time, he noted a small weeping on the clutch slave that he says is "fine for now" but I should consider options for later.

I searched to find threads on rebuild kits and people seem pretty pleased with the response. If you've done so, are you? And where'd they come from?

Or do you recommend the 'new' route?

Cost not such an issue, but there is a point where being wasteful is just that. Thanks in advance.

As long as the housing is fine inside you could rebuild it yourself, could be a big headache if not. TRutlands stocks the new ones, seen them on ebay along with the $3600 boxer distributor, lol unsure of cost though.

    Good day Adams,

You may wish to check out AW Imported Auto Parts in NJ Tel: 732-542-5600 and talk to Stacey. I found that they had rebuild kits and complete assemblies for excellent prices (their prices were the best I could find). In fact, I seem to remember that a brand new clutch slave cylinder was around $230 US (November 2006).

T Rutlands currently has them as well for $350 US:

You could see if white post restorations has a kit for that cyl, if they will do it , it is guaranteed for as long as you own the car.

Subscription to F chat has paid for itself so many times, this being another example. Thanks guys. I've gone from a beggar ready to overpay to the guy in the Lending Tree commercials with parts people calling me, hoping I'll grant them the honor of a purchase! I'll let you know the outcome.

If others have other sources, opinions, that'd be great too. Thanks.

Dick Fritz with Amerispec imported a number of Boxers. He tells me the guts of the clutch slave is the same at the Renault Le Car & costs about $5 in parts.

Be worth buying the parts just to see.
