Yeah no kidding! What the hell were they thinking and how hard is it to understand that an FXX has dark wheels!

    Oh well...

I ordered one of the 2007 on Saturday. If the differences between the 2006 and the 2007 are colour and wheels (and nothing else) my plan will be to swap the chassis from the 2007 on to my 2006 TDF FXX.

If I do I will post pictures.

C'mon guys. Before all of you ***** and moan about the wheels you have to understand the whole procedure of making models.I don't mean to say that Mattel is making outstanding models, but there is a reason for these little differences or "inaccuracies" if you will.Let's start with the F40.As all of us know the mattel model is just a revamped Bburago. And most of us have noticed the "incorrect" intake manifolds.Incorrect?! Think again! There is an F40 with the exact same intake and seats. It is one of the first if not THE first one made. When a manufacturer like Bburago has the rights to make a model a lot of times it is given insight of a model before the real car is introduced in order to become available at the same time as the real car.
Just the case with the Enzo. The model was available at the Paris motor show and could be purchased at the same time as the real Enzo was introduced. So a lot of people who bought the model screamed "bloody murder" once looking under the engine cover. This would include me too. However after some research I found out that the "348 Enzo mules" have the exact same air intakes as on the Mattel's "inaccurate"Enzo model.Ferrari probably "adjusted" their intake's shape long after the production of the models started.Where Hotwheels screwed up is that they corrected the manifold on the Enzo in their Elite series but they did not do the same for the F40.
Now about the silver wheels on the FXX.I recently bought one of the last issues of M&M (makes and models magazine).Wile it is not the best of reads there is always some cool pictures in it.And in the issue I just bought there is an article about the FXX.Something M&M have been doing for ever is that they mix factory pictures with their own.And in this article there are pictures of..............You guessed it! An FXX with plain silver wheels, standing still on a racetrack.I would not be surprised if ferrari decided to go with black wheels after Mattel already started making the silver ones.At least they are learning and trying to correct their mistakes.Give them some credit!
Now that I have said all this, maybe you can find an answer for the question that I read here so many times."How can Mattel announce an F430 light pista, when Ferrari have not even introduced it yet?"

I have no problem with the silver wheels on the FXX because, as you stated, the first pics of the FXX from Ferrari showed them with such wheels.

However, the TDF is my favourite car and if I can swap chassis to make mine closer to a replica of the real version I will.

I could have done so with my Super Elite, but the detail of the body/interior is so much nicer on the Super that I did not want to ruin that model.

The thing here lucky, is that there weren't any fundamental changes - no parts to recast/mold. They took wheels, and painted them silver (sure the release car had them, but that's it) Is it too much to ask that they switch over to black - all they have to do is change the paint they use on the wheels. I would have been fine without the red stripe even. Granted, I could paint them black myself, but that takes more work than b*tching about it on the internet... ;)

My whole point is that when they were already in the process of building it they did not even know they were supposed to be black. However I agree that *****ing on the internet can be a lot of fun. ;)

Here is a better picture of the Schumacher Super Elite FXX. This is from the Nurenburg (?)n toy show. Note that is indicates sample and is attached to a carbon fibre base.
