I dont know if anyone on here saw it or this is a repost(My humblest apologies if it is). OMG!!! How sexy is that Silverstone F430 crusinng down the freeway when he hits it and the flames come out. I was in awe and Michael Mann must like the car because it sounded like he put a microphone next to the exhaust or engine bay to get the right sound.

    Just my .02

    Thanks for reading.

You just described the only decent scene in the whole film.

But yes, it's a sexy color for the F430 - helps disguise the bulky tail section. And you can't argue with the sound.

i liked the DVD a whole lot more than the movie. Just a handful of minor changes but it added a lot. Especially:
    1. the boat race (re)added to the beginning with the credits. Introducing the city with those marvellous panaromic shots of the skyline. And a short glimpse (and the only scene in the ENTIRE movie) of Ocean Drive. Whats Miami Vice without Ocean Drive? Half the series was shot on that road...
    2. Exchanging the soundtrack music with Nonpoints "In the Air Tonight" over the finale.

On a whole it was great movie. As a "Miami Vice" movie... so-so. As a fan i would have preferred a bit more of the classic themes (South Beach Art Deco, the Ferrari, Brickle) instead of the short glimpses of them... but we WERE warned that it was NOT going to be the TV show...

if only they got Jan Hammer for the score...

They did a good job sexing the Miami Vice Brand up. I mean with Farrell and Foxx. I liked the dvd we watched as it was the unrated version and also the directors cut. did you also notice the club scene when they rolled up in the white rovers, you could see the rear 3/4 panel of a 360 or 430 in black. I liked the Bentley flying down Ocean drive. You are correct with the boats as well.

    Have a great day gentleman.

I thought that they put granny panties on it. They should have cast for more than Hollywood flavor of the month. That guy from 'Lost' would have made a great Crockett.

I've said it in other threads, but I agree that the DVD version of the movie was a little better than the theatrical version. I still don't think the movie holds a light to the TV series though. Speaking of which, I just bought the newly-released Season 3 and 4 DVD's :D

I've only got the first two. Were there any great episodes after that?

I've actually only watched two episodes so far from Season 3 myself. I think general consensus says that seasons 1 and 2 were the best, season 3 was still pretty good but seasons 4 and 5 started to go downhill due to weird or laughable story lines.

I absolutely love the series. But the movie is just crap.

Colin and Jamie don't play a good Sonny and Rico :)

As a young punk in the 80's, I was one of the many who watched(without fail) Miami Vice and was totally shocked when they blew up the Daytona(even then I knew it was a replica). They brought out the replacement car, the white TR. The story I heard was that the replacement was black but it did not show up well in the night scenes and so the black TR was painted white.
Did anyone notice that the replacement for the blown up Daytona(replica) mades its debut in the same episode that the Spyder was destroyed??? First episode of the 3rd season: When Irish Eyes Are Crying
I am now an old punk counting the days down when I will have that elusive 328 in my garage.

to each his own. I'm a huge movie buff--from an entertainment and production pt. of view. i happen to really like Michael Mann's work. Vice was nice and dark, in the same vein as Collateral and Heat. The production work is great, using high def instead of film makes it look and 'feel' crisp. The shootout scenes, and the other more nuanced parts, work as they were intended to IMO. The authenticity of the .50 cal ripping apart the russians, the visual and audio movement in the final shootout scene...just great. I'll take MM films over Bruckheimer's any day.

Who else noticed that in one episode, the door mirror on the TR changed sides?
.It was a long distance shot, the car was traveling towards camera, and you could not see the driver,I guess the film had been reversed for some reason.I have no Idea which series it was,and I have it on VHS video format somewhere.

Next to the ferrari scene, I think the best scene is in the hospital when the girl wakes up. why? because in the background you can see ME!

(I'm the doctor in the back at the counter --- in fact, the nurse that he calls to is one of our urology OR nurses)

    My 15 milliseconds of fame.

BTW it took 3 days (actually nights) to film the indoor hospital scenes, for the 5 minutes or so of the movie they take up.

The TR did show up in that episode but it wasnt Crockett's at that point. Some IRA arm smuggler owned it and it was black in that episode...
Crockett got it (now in white) in the next episode,"Stones War" after indignantly driving some hotrod pickup (!). It got a baptism of fire as the episode featured it (OK.. the stunt kit car) in one of the better car chases in the series... The best was the Daytona vs the Lambo Countach and the TR vs a vette and 'cuda.
FYI: the smuggler was played by a (young) Liam Neeson.

ferrariartist: I see you saw the same thing I did. Black in one episode(as someone else's car) and white in Stone's War. In fact, Sonny even mentions the new paint when he first sees the TR.
What I got a kick out of was the guy who blew up the Daytona(Jeff Fahey). One of my favorite actors who never made it big. Johnson developed and produced a show for the him in the mid-90's called The Marshall. ABC never gave it a decent shot, although it ran off and on for 2 or 3 years.
