Over the weekend, I had the opportunity to take a 355 spider for a short drive and was surprised at how little headroom it had - I found myself slouching down so the windshield header didn't cut off the top of my vision. Since I'm not that tall (I'm 6'2" and pretty evenly distributed as to legs and torso), I was very surprised. I tried adjusting the seat but to no avail. The seats seemed to be mounted pretty close to the floor and weren't very thick on the bottom, so I suspect that replacing them with Recaro or other racing seats wouldn't help much. What do taller drivers of these cars do?

My interpretation of headroom: 355spider>355GTB>355GTS. Was it a full spider or the GTS? where I don't fit the ts/GTS, the tb/GTB's just fit, and the spiders are fine.

Can try moving the seat forward a bit and reclining it a bit - think F1 but with knees up.

The spider has more room up top than the GTB & GTS I believe. I am only 6'0" and you are right it feels 'just right' for me and there is not much more headroom to spare :(. Though even worse was a 1993 512TR that I test drove, I could not even sit up at all!!! I was leaning inboard to to keep my head from rubbing :(.

I Believe it is even worse for 'overweight' people because the fat on ones back pushes one even more forward ;).

I'm 6'4" and had no trouble in my 355B, although I did sit kinda hunched over. It never really bothered me though, and long trips weren't a pain.

What REALLY blows are the seats in an 89 Mondial t. Very narrow at the hips and most uncomfortable. Now, if I could find a cheap set of 355 seats in Crema leather....

For many years, Italian cars have been advocating the monkey position - you need long arms and short legs to drive one. Some of the Alfas from the 70s and 80s were really bad, and the 308GT4 isn't too good either. Still, I'd rather be uncomfortable in a Ferrari than comfortable in a Buick.....

This was with the top down. I imagine it would have been worse with the top up or in a GTB. I've heard the Testarossas can be a bit tight if you're of average to taller height. However, hearing about basketball players owning these cars lead me to think that it was a myth that you really can't be more than 6'0" - I guess not.

I am 6ft 1in and in my 355 used to feel the same as you I always felt I looked too big in it head over top of windshield the seating position was OK my TR was as others have said knees up to where they almost touched the underside of the dash.

It all depends on how long your torso/legs are.

I'm 6'2" and drive a berlinetta coupe and have about 1.5" of head room which is just fine. And this is without reclining the seat as I prefer to drive in the normal position.

If you need an extra 2 inches or so there is an easy solution, just remove the stock seat cushion foam and replace it with memory foam.
It compresses more than the stock foam and this allows me to wear a helmet on track days.

You could use this for daily use but I find I sit way to low in the car for daily commuting.

I'm a little over 6'2" and have a spider.. Headroom isn't a problem with the top up or down... But the top of the windshield frame can block my view at times if I am sitting a stop light looking up.. Other than that no worries...

6'1" here with long legs and I have a problem in both the 348 and 355. I put the seat almost back all the way - second to the last click. Then I slouch slightly, keep the steering wheel adjusted up and I do just fine.
