Lives in Mildura was racing Pee Wees and winning, parents little money so I bought him of Mike Hone a new Susuki 50cc or it might have been 75cc.his age about 8 has or was doing well. With the brake up of my marriage Marie my ex now is paying the bills, sad thing is nephews parents split up so I think his career is over.sad as i was going to keep buying him the next catergory of bike.I have no children,if i did i would do what Scud is planning on doing, sounds wonderful a dream come true.18 yo racing Porsche Cup or racing a formula Ford or what ever.

You should buy Tom Wheatcrofts autobiography. Great read about his life, the Donnington collection and the resurrection of the race circuit. I suspect his anti-authoritarian outlook will strike a chord with you :p

Interesting fact from the book- he was a WW2 soldier in the invasion of Europe. He and his tank crew actually robbed a bank in Germany by popping an explosive shell through the front door and driving the Sherman tank into the foyer. This persuaded the manager to open the vault rather than necessitate an armour piercing round doing the job. They took off with the cash and the loot helped Wheatcroft set up his post war building business that made him his fortune.

I seem to remember seeing that portrayed in a hollywood movie, can anyone remember the movie?

FWIW, a number of the cars in his collection came from Australia and New Zealand. They were left here after they were used in the Tasman and other race series. Gone, never to return like so many other great cars :(

Anyway, an interesting read for anyone so inclined.
