You do have a way with words. Very eloquent, quite thought provoking, and, to say the least, stimulating. And, to top that off, you are becoming a bit less loquacious, or, if you prefer, garrulous.
I never heard him say that, but that must mean he is a true man. I really apprecate people like that!
Maybe it was the Butler with the Candestick. I usually humor myself with by reading the threads in this forum... Get a chuckle at Darth and his wit... And never hyjack a thread...But Some of you really need to get a life and realize that you do not KNOW EVERYTHING... and realize that your educated guesses and conspiracy theorys are wrong. Those that know Daniel know that hes a good hearted person and would never endanger anyone physically.
Armen, JJ is a very nice guy, and I am sure he didn't mean anything in a stupid way. He is a true enthusiast, in fact by his own post, I think you would agree nothing was mean't in a malicous manner. Don't forget about lunch next week.
done on purpose or not if nothing but safety was in play to reassure that no one would ever get hurt then shouldn't Griffen have been at least wearing a helmet since they were practicing for a RACE? or was no helmet being worn because everyone knew that there was no harm involved in crashing a car into that wall at that speed?
Nice Theory K, but that car had way too much understeer to be staged. After a stunt it is the stunt coordinator's and medics' jobs to rush to the "stuntperson", which never happened here, suggesting confusion & surprise. There's also a lot of other stuff that suggest Eddie's crash wasn't planned.
unless, get this you, are in the business of making movies and acting and to stage a fake accident as a stunt in front of unsuspecting cameras then the last thing you would want to do is give it all away by rushing in as one would during a normal stunt after "cut" is yelled, giving it all away just playing devil's advocate here! here is what I dont get, if it was a real accident (and Im not saying it wasnt): -why, if you were concerned with your actors safety, then why would you put the turn 6" away from the wall, knowing that they are NOT professional drivers? -those brakes did not only not lock up but they didnt even start to be applied (the squeals we hear are from the front wheels being turned and you can notice that not once do the wheels stop turning nor slow); if Griffen was going into that turn knowing he had to turn then anyone would know to at least slow down a bit, and if he lost control then natural instinct (especially by an inexperienced driver) would be to then slam on the brakes and jerk the car to the left (away from yourself as the driver to protect yourself), neither of these things happen, the car doesnt even jerk right. It just goes straight into the wall with the wheels turned so we get a nice screech and allows for the car to hit the wall at a slight angle and pop it upward so as to minimize the impact on the driver. -why does Griffen sit so calmly in the car immediately after the accident? -why does he continue to step on the gas and drive it? anyone who has ever been in an accident would know that after slamming on the brakes and slamming into something the first thing you do is STOP because you are stunned. -if this was covered by SOOOOO many different cameras and News crews, then how come we dont get to see any full coverage of everything? if not of before the crash then certainly after, if there is one thing a news cameraman is more than well trained at is to keep the camera rolling no matter what! we should have footage from the news crews of people running up to the car, the paramedics rushing over there, Griffen getting out of the car, ect ect and we get nothing of it. We get obviously edited footage of an event that happened this weekend. And why didnt this get aired ASAP since it is the news? if it is a news worthy story why wait? as for his reaction of being calm yet somewhat seemingly bothered, well Griffen is an actor, not too hard to pull off and fake (or "ACT"). and the issue of putting someone in danger has been brought up several times, well: -making this movie with highspeed cars and stunts and races no matter how much safety precautions are taken there is ALWAYS a risk of someone getting hurt so obviously Daniel IS willing to put people at risk (albeit controlled) otherwise the movie wouldve been a lot of static shots of the cars just sitting still -actors put themselves in harms way all the time in order to make and promote a movie (otherwise why would they even agree to race a high end sports car for a promotion?); they do it for the "art" of making a film, giving it their all to make their craft believable, as they often say in interviews of why they would do such a ridiculous stunt again I am just playing devil's advocate here, I can see it going both ways, either way this is great publicity for the movie, especially since thankfully no one was hurt, that unless you are into cars no one has heard about and now everyone is talking about this. I bartend and people are buzzing about this "million dollar Enzo that crashed," even the ones that dont have a clue about cars at all no less as to what an Enzo is. EDIT: PS about the brakes, but correct me if I am wrong here but shouldnt those darn expensive arse brakes on that million dollar Ferrari be able to stop the car in that distance? I know that in my cheap ass stang I couldve stopped in that distance at that speed.
Looking at the original crash footage it appears the driver was going way too fast for a decreasing radius turn. Maybe realizing his error he tried to add more steering input rather than braking hard around a bend because he was afraid of how a mid engine car might react to stabbing the brakes at that speed with the wheel cranked. If this was indeed practice for a charity event, there is a good possibility the safety crew and any instructors that might have been there were a bit more lax than usual. I have been at track sessions where people have run over cones and hit barriers getting to know the car and the layout. Not that surprising really. Not smart or excusable, just understandable. If the star of the movie wanted to make a run, they would probably let him do it. As far as the crash itself is concerned, I doubt they would have had an actor run into a wall at any speed without a helmet and other safety gear. The fact that nobody runs over to the car or the fact that the photographer doesn't move is easily explained too. Tunnel vision, shock, delayed reaction, adrenaline... If you watch the longer clip from the other angle, you see that the medics are there right away and that Griffin gets out pretty shaken up. You also see the photographer jump. The interview we see in the clip was later that night at the actual event. Basically I think it was an accident that was used to its fullest to promote the movie. No biggie. Who wouldn't want to put a positive spin on something like that? I seriously doubt it was staged and am glad Griffin is ok. Sadek seems like a good guy who was probably sad but not devestated by the loss of another toy. At least he didn't lose one of the stars of the movie.
Comm' on If your in the movie business, you gotta be sharper than that. Wouldn't you think they would have more media out there that JUST channel (channel 2)??? Aren't the stunt cordinators safer than sending out someone whose gonna crash without a helmet when other drivers CHOSE to wear a helmet. How about the guy standing right behind the barrier. I don't think that was too safe? And plain and simple it wasn't staged. Big deal if it was, It would have been a smart move (for publicity) but it really wasn't.
I think the guy had no clue what he was doing behind the wheel, and simply stuffed it into the barrier. It was obvious that as soon as he got understeer he panicked and nailed the brakes. Interesting article in autoweek.com about the incident. Basically it says the guy didn't know how to drive.
I have no idea if the crash was staged or not. I do know that for an inexperienced driver, driving an an Enzo is not like driving a slower 430, which itself is fast. You have to be very alert in the Enzo. It will give you the sensation that you are driving 90 MPH and when you look down at the speedometer and see 140. You don't realize how fast you are really going, thus the car can get away from you. That's my 2 cents on the subject.
Maybe driver aids inadvertantly disabled? I thought you could disable the traction control but NOT the ABS, it's obvious he was turning and still in skid at same time.... Micheal Schumacher climbed out from testing one and said, "A wise driver will leave all the aid devices ON...." I'm glad he's ok, also... Just rich boys, tearing up rich boy's toys.........I'll bet they are tough on everything........motel rooms, significant others, etc..... They are PLAYAS!!!!!! *switching to another channel*
Never said he wasn't good hearted or that he endangered anyone. That is why he would have stunt coordinators on the scene to ensure everyones safety. Give me time and I'll have the names of the two gentleman who walked up to the car first.
I'm going to talk to a few stunt coordinators who just got back from a shooting "The Company" in Puerto Rico. All the top guys were down there. If I show them the video and they identify the "safety crew" as fellow stunt coordinators then we'll have our answer. Safety crew on a track and stunt coordinators are two very different things. Since Eddie is the star of the movie and not some anonymous SC what would be the point of having the SC crash the car?
I agree, I've been directing and producing for 10 years (all racecar stuff) and I feel that if it was staged, then people would be overacting their parts and not be so num... when the media is present you always keep your reaction down, don't wanna panic and look bad... as we all know, that cars do move barriers and the Enzo has moved that barrier few inches, they wouldn't have put a photographer behind it knowing they were going to crash in to it... just my opinion. come on bring it on! THIS IS SPARTAAAAA!
Ok, you find the Stunt guys and ill set up the barn as a Courtroom and we'll trial those bast*rds for cheating and stealing from us... can't wait to voir dire all of the experts here!! GET OVER IT!!! No one cares who those two are... If they are SCs, Good!!! Then they had all the right people there to make sure no one got hurt! Mission accomplished! You are not impressing anyone with all of the Industry people you know. Btw, this incident is getting press because it's an expensive car... Not because Eddie was driving... Ericksson was a nobody and it made headlines World Wide, day 1!
Dont start I have pleanty more where that "THIS IS SPARTAAAAA" came from. Btw that track is used by a lot of the drift events and I personally do not like it as you either have the infeild or one of the many walls or K-Rails to total your car at. .
Dude, I think your CRAPPAAAAAAA!!!!!!! is genius are you in the film industry? I show it to some people here we always laugh like idiots... Did we meet at VCR?
I dont know why everyone is arguing so much over this, either it was a complete accident and then they tried to make the best of a bad situation and advertise the hell out of it to get publicity OR it was done on purpose and the proper safety requirements were taken and executed perfectly since no one was hurt as probably the most ingenious publicity stunts ever. Either way no one was hurt, the owner doesnt seem to be bothered too much by the car (and he is the only one that really matters when it comes to that since it was his), and now the movie is going to be a big success at the box office, BRILLIANT more power to them!
Not to put up an arguement, But I'm a BIG part of this whole movie, I'd know if the car was being wrecked. That's all I need to say, Believe what u want. It happened, publicity is BETTER that Great, and it's a good thing. But nobody should knock Daniel. that's all. People have the right to believe what they want. and that's O.K.
No, way I just hijack and theive stuff from other places kinda like the movie indusry does. Just show up to cigar night, I will be hanging from the VCR sign untill dustin beats me off with a broom.
