I feel your pain also... last month my gf dragged my SUV along a post at my condo. Talk about paint transfer. Whoa. Anyway, I was able to remove the paint and light scratches with some heavy cutter from Meguiars, followed by their fine cutter and polish... works great! Later I bent the panel back into alignment with the back of a shovel. Looks like new! :)

No matter what she did, or how you feel about her it's always cheaper to keep her. I vote for the spider :)

If she's a good lawyer I don't think you'll get any of your options. :)

if she is a good lawyer.. higher her as your attorney... then she'll be legally obliged to act in your best interests and in the worst position possible... finding ways of punishing herself... lol

First off...I feel your pain, I think we've all been there....or will be there one day; it's inevitable.

Anyhow....this is how you should proceed:

First-off....do EXACTLY what I would do: get really really REALLY upset, furious, totally lose your cool and verbally assault her with all sorts of horrible accusations, insinuations and an array of terrible comments. Total melt-down tantrum! This will solve NOTHING...but now you have a scratched car AND the guilt of going way overboard and acting like an infantile jerk who isn't worthy of any woman's time or affection. Trust me on this, make a complete ****** of yourself.

Second....post a thread on F-Chat. Oh wait, you already did this (you're well ahead of the game!:)). Now you'll get sympathy, empathy and you won't feel so bad about getting upset. Use some humor, mention divorce, having her knocked-off, etc....it'll put a nice twist on an otherwise lousy situation. Here again, you've covered this.....

Third....do NOT try to fix it yourself. Unless your name is RayJohn none of us are qualified to fix, repair or attempt to alter our own cars. These are precious jewels and no mortal man can work on them: seek the professional skills of a detailer....or as I have done, a guy who can fill scratches with color-matched paint and buff it smooth. These guys have various compounds, techniques and equipment to make the job look better then our Pep-Boys arsenol could ever do....plus it'll restore that elusive feeling that a professional restored your car to good-as-new.

Take the wife out to dinner, get her flowers and hope she'll accept your apology....but know, in your heart, that you'll totally blow your top and lose-it the next time she screws-up and trashes your toy with her complete and utter disregard and apalling incompetence to exercise REASONABLE care in being around your car...WHICH IS EVIDENTLY TOO MUCH TO F-IN ASK FOR in a world that is so complicated & complex.....oh wait, we're losing it again....

So focus on just saying your sorry....then when she apologizes...DON'T go over it again and tell her how you were mad or why you were upset...just sit there like a part of you was hurt and you felt betrayed. This is called guilt manipulation; woman specialize in this. Use it against them, turn to the pink side and get in their heads....

    We're through the looking-glass people......

I'm sure those scratches will come out, good luck brother! :)

Such an insightful post Steve. What more can I say, the car won't get less scratched so get it fixed and move on.

My wife is generally careless. It really isn't on purpose just a fact of life. She has put countless dents in the door of my M-Roadster, doored by her Audi. She has rashed the wheels, 3 and counting.

When it happens I point it out, make no accusations, and say 'we will get it fixed'. She generally feels bad about it and I get my way for a while. Fortunately for me, she understands that my Ferrari means a lot and she isn't always careful so she doesn't drive the car and is pretty careful around it.

But in the end it is just a car. The relationship is much more important than the car, even my Ferrari, so let it go.

    Good luck

    good man, great solution.

Personally I would have cut her up with a chainsaw and buried her in body bags at four corners of the UK then got myself a new chick with more respect for the F.

You probably can't get away with murder, even in Canada even though this would be justifiable homicide in Italy. If you were in California and you changed your name to OJ no problem.

Getting a divorce is really not a good idea. You could lose the Ferrari.

Now, if my wife scratched my 360 Spider she would feel so bad that I could get anything I wanted...yes, even a 430. Play it for all it's worth, You may get a 430 and a 599 too.

Good luck. And may the force be with you. :)

When I drove my 360 back 300 miles from where I bought it in the pouring rain and with tons of road junk having washed onto the road, I got about half a dozen rock chips on what had previously been a flawless car. After seeing this, I likened it to what someone told me once the first time my motorcycle fell over: There are only 2 kinds of motorcycles in the world - the ones that have fallen over and the ones that will. I'm sure the same is true with rock chips/scratches on these cars. Of course, I'm hoping that situation will improve after the chips are fixed and the clear-bra goes on later this week!

You will just have to apologize for having the audacity to park your car in her way.

    hello gents;
the scratches were in fact quite minor and easily buffed out. i'm putting up a wall to separate my car from the riff-raff..
I'll either use dry wall and have a sliding door in the middle to allow for my door to open or i might install a sliding metal/plastic rolling divider (like the ones you see at store entrances in the malls),
    s""t happens i guess..
either i'll get the 430spider for 08 or wait for new 09 model??

The USSR tried putting up a wall in West Berlin. Look where it got them.

    What's your alternative plan?

I'm a cheap Bastid and for years I have used a long thin box that catering tables come in. They're free from dealers. eight feet long, four feet wide, and three inches thick. They give if you hit them with a door. My wife parks next to me in the garage and has never caused me any pain (she knows better). I also fold in the left mirror and cover it with a bubble wrap thingy I made.
