Hey , I just got the engine insulation sheet from whitney + high adhesive spray, can someone offer some tips on how to install it. By looking at the material on the insulation sheet, I'm not sure if it'll stick well, anyone has any experience with these sheets..thanks

    1. cover the engine with an old sheet.

    2. cut two sheets of the whitney foam to size

    4. Spray the carpet-y side of the foam, liberally!!

    5. Spray the engine lid area carefully

    6. Slide the foam through the support rails, and affix with painters tape until it sets.

If you wanna make the task a little bit easier, you can remove the engine lid and lay it down. Only four bolts holding it in place.

It doesn't just stick well, it almost sticks too well. You have a relatively small window of time from when you spray on the sticky stuff to when it becomes too sticky (it gets more sticky by the minute) to slide the insulation into place.

I followed the instructions for the first sheet of insulation + sticky stuff, then put the 2nd sheet of insulation in without first spraying (but sprayed the sticky stuff in after the fact).

Still holding strong 2 years later (both pieces). Ignore the red arrow/circles in the pic.

That'll work! Though I'd suggest replacing the "old sheet" in #1 with a new $3 vinyl shower curtain (that you'll want to use to cover your engine when washing the car over the years, anyway).

thanks! do you spray on the insulation itself or do you spray on the hood? I think I'll remove the hood cover that way its easier and there'll no chance of the sticky stuff in the engine compartment.. I'll let you know how it goes, thanks

BTW, how much are you suppose to spray?

Spray to coat...and coat both surfaces (i.e. carpet side of insulation and underside of hood bonnet) so that the sticky is bonding to sticky.

Spray both surfaces. I did only one and it no sticky. Looks like Luigi forgot to remove the adhesive covering on your foam at the factory like he did for mine. I just ditched the insulation and have not missed it since.
