Oz, I found a few pics for you the pic of the exhaust is the olny one I have. There is no muffler on the CH race system. As I said in post above all I have added were header baffles. Regards, Vern Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Vern..great pics of an awesome car...wish it were mine... Of the two exhausts offered for 355CH you've got the bad boy(loudest)...I see now why you added some baffling.
You are the man!!! Your 355C ruuuules!!! That challenge exhaust looks very light too! Thanks for posting your beautiful 355C !!!
Thanks for the accolades guys. I have to say it is by far the most entertaining fcar I have owned, which isn't saying much since I haven't had a GTO or Testa Rossa but it is as close as I will probably ever get. Regards, Vern
Vern...got any pics of the brakes??? Is the Brembo Gran Tourismo kit the same as what is on your car?? Thanks
I thought this was a thread on headers? The brakes on the 355C are similar to the f-50 brakes(size/dimensions) not sure about Brembo's GT Kit never had a reason to research it. My system is a race caliper where the pads come out easily but they rattle in the caliper vs. the street version have a different clamping bracket for the pads. Hope the pics help. Vern that is one nice car you've got......I like the drilled clutch cover with insulated cooling cover. I have a chance to buy a complete 355CH brake system....do you think it will be ok for street use, will the rattling pads be a problem? I thought the CH headers retained the heat shield...did you remove it?......also the cats look different than what I remember was OEM CH factory ones?? Thanks for the great pics!!!
Damn Vern !!!! Those brakes are huge!!!! They are waaaaay bigger than the Brembo GT kit. The Brembo GT kit are only 14" diameter. Thanks for posting those pics!!!
The clutch cover is a CH piece its magnesium and comes from Ferrari drilled to aid in cooling, likewise on the cover. there are small scoops on the bottom of it that you cant see in the pic. If you will look at the pic of the caliper you see 2 small springs parallel with the pads those stop the rattle, keeping the pads pulled to the caliper. I would not recommend the CH brake set up for the street for several reasons, pads are problem getting, they squeal somewhat, the rattle problem etc. The headers are factory units that have the sheilding off and are ceramic coated and those pipes are not cats as I said in an earlier post the car has no cats and no ex.temp sensors. I can't stress this enough this car is part time driven (about 2500/yr.) and not in town, its loud, low to the ground and very stiff. If you love machinery then it would be fun but it is not for the faint of heart. Regards, Vern
Vern..I know CH steering rack has a quicker ratio but is it NON power steering?? Do you know of anyone that has some challenge parts for sale?? I need a steering rack........have the complete brake system but need the metal dual inlet collars that bolt to hubs, the rear plastic diffusers w/dual naca ducts, and the front plastic ducts that have one inlet/dual outlets...........would like to have a set of 355CH wheels which clear the bigger brakes(street car wheels won't work)............FYI, did you know that the 360CH BBS(forged aluminum) wheels are tougher and lighter than the Speedline Magnesium CH wheels?.....so if push comes to shove I'll just use them instead.
I see you aren't taking my advice on the brake thing huh? hahaha. I don't know anyone with parts to sell, the spares I have I need to keep for my own car. Not only is the rack different but so is the P/S pump (oh yeah they still have P/S) Ferraris ps still has the same feel to it as the std steering(IMO anyway) the 348 guys don't know what they're missin'. Those rear diffuses are 1200.00 each from Ferrari you might be better off graphting in those NACA ducts to std. pieces. I had a set of the 360 wheels but sold them a few years ago, IMHO the didn't look right and I wanted to keep the car original as possible. The part Nos. for the rack and pump are 176036 and 177696 if you want to know. Why don't you buy CH instead it might be easier than trying to make changes to your road version. Regards, Vern
I already had a set of CH brakes in the shop with several sets of new pads with same composition as what comes on the Brembo GT brake upgrade....still weighing my options on this and haven't discarded your advice,yet...lol. I wanted a quicker steering ratio with a little more feed back than what the street car has but since you can't tell any difference between the two it wouldn't be worth the money for a little quicker ratio. As far as buying a CH.....hmmmmm...see Cavallino Motors has one for sale.....lol
just a few pictures of the top pipe i fitted a few months back/ Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
That is one nice car George...thanks for the pics. That looks like a Kreis(?) by-pass pipe for the 5.2........Goth is working on a modified exhaust that will totally eliminate the factory by-pass system(for reasons stated in the beginning of this thread) and still retain the F1 sound that has been a + for the 355.
Thats right the future of the 355 is looking very bright !! So bright I should be wearing my sunglasses !
Thats right, autodarkening #7 lenses !! I am currently dreaming of .....uh ...I mean debating wether to remove the heat shields off my 360 headers and ceramic coating the tubes and reinstalling the shields. I will try to do 'some' of the mock up this weekend.
Great news.....hope you get started this weekend.....have you finalized your ideas on the new air box?
