Never seen one before until today. Was outside a little strip center not too far from my house (corner of SR70 and Caruso in Bradenton, FL). Older guy, looked like he was coming out of the nail salon there. The owner was cool, asked him whether he minded me snapping a photo. My girl did a U-turn after I saw it sitting there. She thought it was cool. I hate gawking at other peoples' cars, but this was definitely a special case. I never expected to see one in the wild.

sorry to hijack the thread but i got caught up in the 212 rebody as a pf california spider.

the racing pics of the car show that the owner is really leaning on the old dear!

i havent seen such lean angles since i rode the ferry from ceuta to algecerias in 1973!

You need to get out more :)
Just kidding. The guy who owns that is a client of my dad's, his name is Robert Snyder, very nice guy, some kind of doctor, also has a 550 Maranello. He gave me a ride in the XJ220 and when those turbos come on, it is scary :)
He drives the car to work a lot, and is at the St. Armands Ferrari show every year. He's one of the rare people who actually drive their awesome supercars.

I rode in a different XJ220 at the Clearwater Cars & Coffee, owner's name was Jeff, a really nice guy. Intersting car, it's very smooth and quiet like a Jag, but insanely, and I mean INSANELY fast. I've been in some quick cars, but there is quick, and there is the XJ.

A good time. Apparently there are only four in the state of FL, and 25 road legal in the United States.

I don't recall this at last year's St. Armand's show. Seemed like a nice guy - I didn't want to annoy him taking tons of photos.

    What does your dad do?

i was never a true fan of the 220 until i saw one in person. it kind of happened on a fluke, i was driving by a dealership (with a bad reputation) and i figured why not, so i stopped in for a couple of minutes, and i'll be darned if it wasn't sitting right there on the showroom floor. beautiful car, they didn't have it for long, it was already sold by the time i got there.

    Nice spotting!

I've only seen an XJ220 twice in person (different ones). One a dealership & other at an auto show.

My dad is a CPA. I think. I won't actually see him for another two weeks. haha

Minch00: There can't only be 4 in FL. There's this one in SRQ, a guy in Orlando owns 2, you met this Jeff guy that owns one, and I saw a green one at the St. Pete Festival of Speed, so unless that one is Jeff's, that's 5, and there have to be some in Naples, WPB, Miami, or wherever.
Do you know how many were imported to the US total?

I know someone who owns one in Marin county, he has actually raised the boost on his and recently did a full rebuild.
He has his Ferrari mechanic work on it and commented that it was fairly cheap to rebuild compared to his vintage Ferraris.

THat's what the gentleman said, but I found it a bit strange as well. I think roughly 50 are in the USA. Who is the guy in Orlando that owns TWO!? That's crazy! All I know is I was incredibly lucky to see the car, much less have a great ride in one.

I think his name is Ian Crawford. He has the silver one that was at the St. Pete FOS and a maroon one.
