I'm shopping for a used 350 Modena coupe and am seriously considering a 2000 with under 15,000 miles. Can anyone recommend a year or anything to look for when purchasing? Much thanks! Jonathan

Do a search here, Jonathan, under that topic.

This issue has been worked to death.

Biggest issue is to confirm that the variator campaign has been done.

    Welcome to FChat.

There all good and updates are available. Purchase the newest your budget will allow.

The 99s are the best. They have at least 20 more HP than the later units with the pre-cats on them. You need to make sure that the variators have been done, and if it's a F1, that the updated software has been installed.

99's do make more power but nothing that can't be duplicated in a later car. There is also the trans software issue and some minor hardware issues in the cars up to mid year 01. One thing you should be aware of on 99'2 and 2000 though is the frame breakage problem. One reason to have it inspected by someone that knows the cars well.

Best year was 1987, but they're down a bit on power.

If you had your car serviced by someone who knew what he was doing he would be keeping an eye on things like that.

Did the car go off road? Up and down curbs? There must be more to the crack than just driving on the streets!

No, just a weakness in the 1st design engine bearers that was redesigned early on. It is not a big fix but needs to be looked at from time to time. It by itself would not deter me from having a 99-00
