Time to dust off this thread. This photo was taken in New Zealand, photo copyright Jack Inwood. Can anybody guess what the first car is and it's significance? Image Unavailable, Please Login
oh I've read about this car, some Kiwi stuck an F1 engine into it or a 250 engine of some kind, was in an old SCW magazine but would take me ages to find it ... was called a Morrari or something equally silly
just found some info on it : The first one was known as the 'Morrari'. It started out as a works Ferrari 555 Super Squalo F1 car. By the mid-60s, it was an old outdated racing car, so its owner, Garth Souness, shortened the wheelbase, fitted a small block Chevy V8, and drapped a low-light Morris Minor body over the top
The engine went to Len Southward, think ended up in a 750 Monza. The Morrari went to Gavin Bain(Hero Minogue sold him the Lola T430)he swapped the car in the UK for a 375MM.
cheater !!! I was using my memory to come up with the Morrari name and was sure it was an ex-F1 car (Super Squalo) and then remembered another nutter used another F1 car to recreate 250GTO facsimilie
ERR that was my nic name in Historics.Oh and the 250 GTO thing,Dino 246 #0007.Owner Pat Hoare car now owned by one of my heros Brit Neil Corner.
