Not to change the subject BUT has anyone ever run an electric water pump in a Countach? I am sure that Chad B. would know but anyone else? I know that they are not as reliable and are used primarily in racing but any production cars ever use them? The racing units have gotten so much better
Ask 2NA about that. Now thats a VERY interesting concept. You know, I am going to really delve into this one. Ill be back to you ;-) Best, Joe www.JoeSackey.com
Than you...accepted. NOW can we talk about cars...all kinds..Queens, drivers, high price, low price, 4 wheels even ones with 3 wheels that have had accident damage.... JUST cars....hopefully LAMBORGHINI'S!!
I will ask him. I do not think that I would ever do it to mine but it would be interesting. The placement of the water pump now would make it fairly easy. An electric pump could be placed close to the same location and a fitting made to pipe it into where the pump is now. I can think of several benefits.
By the way, I forgot to mention, yes your car does look really sublime sans wing. Oh, and here is a Countach that is less than "factory picture perfect".... We appreciate and deal in them all! I hope nobody minds if I fix the engine and drive it "as is" to the Reunion?? Guys? One just has to have a sense of humor. I never thought Id be doing the selling for someone else, BUT Ive had many a PM and e-mail directed towards what the best quattrovalvole value in the US thats available is, and the answer is easy: In all fairness, its 12110 which I sold last year to an East Coaster. The thing is not only is it the ONLY 1988 Euro downdraught carburetted QV that has been accepted by the DOT & EPA for legal road-use in the USA, but, as these images will help attest, the former owner went over-the-top and made sure that every mechanical component within the car was overhauled at a cost of almost $75k (engine, trans, brakes, suspension ad nauseum), all documented in a 30-page dossier. I drove the car breifly, and it simply flies, more along more along the lines of a Diablo than a Countach! Compared to most QVs on the market, whatever the current owner asks, you could deduct that $75k which most other QVs will not have had spent in a comprehensive mechanical refurb, in estimation of it true cost. Judging by his current ask, Christmas has come early if youre in the QV market with sufficient funds Joe www.JoeSackey.com Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Its a repaint from red. There is a good-looking 1979 Countach S Series 1 on EBay/Du Pont though. Joe www.JoeSackey.com
How did such an expensive and exotic car get into such sad shape? Was it some rich boys plaything of the year and then got stuck back in the garage when the "new" wore off? What's the story on it?
It was comprehensively crashed by the King's brother (who was unauthorised to drive the King's car) at 700km, then stored at the Royal Palace where clearly the little Princes took great delight in jumping up-and-down on it to see how much they could dent all the thin aluminum body panels Joe www.JoeSackey.com
how many S1 are for sale now that you know, Joe? -this on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Lamborghini-LP400s-Countach-1979-Countach-LP400s-ONE-OF-THE-NICEST-IN-THE-WORLD_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6290QQitemZ290100544265QQrdZ1 5 days left, now at 141+k $ -the periscope red one and? the red car with OZ is sold and so is the white in Sweden is the orange from Swiss on the market again? links? tks emilio
Joe At the 05 Concorso, I met a guy who said he had just purchased a LP 400, in need of work. I think he paid approx 90K ? He told me the car was originally painted orange with a white interior. I believe he is from the East Coast ? Do you know of this car ? AFAIK, unfortunately, he told me he had plans to paint the car in a different color scheme. Orange and white, would be worth a significant premium in Austin, Texas. lol.
Truly only the one on EBAY. The red one with a Periscope roof is 'available' but at a very high price and the owner is said by an F-Chatter to not be very motiovated to part with it. Even the full ask of the car on EBAY is substantially less and the owner has told me that he will in fact accept offers if the EBAY sale doesnt net him a number he is happy with. These are rare cars. So pay attention anyone with a 79 LP400S in their sights... Best, Joe www.JoeSackey.com
Yes, now I remember. He already changed it to silver-gray with a brown leather interior. He is in New York & Connecticut. Ill get you images soon. Joe www.JoeSackey.com
As unmolested as a 28-year-old car will come I think Ive had lots of e-mails on this one and yes it is the Du Pont EBay car and should do well because of its preserved disposition. Joe www.JoeSackey.com Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
now we can see what a (perfect?) S1 is worth, if you reed the story on DuPoint it seems to be a perfect car (for me ) if it is as the say I would think of 150 euro's (high price but it has also bravo's and smal gauges!) I mean if the car was standing in europe I was the one who paid this money for it eh.. before I bought my LP400, empty pockets right now :-( only thing I can see is a strange exhaust system but that's no problem
