I just received my copy of "Ferrari Club" n° 10.

I'll try to translate what Pdt Luca said on march the 7th 2007 in Geneva Motorshow.

"There is no and there won't be a small Ferrari. We will present a new car in Francfort Motorshow at the end of the year, and I can say that it's going to be a very expensive Ferrari !".

It's my translation, but I think everybody will understand.

Not sure if it's good or bad news...

    Cheers,

    Gregory

    Defenately good news!

Very glad to hear, that Ferrari is not to produce a "cheap" Ferrari - if they were, it would be the first steps to ruin the marque IMO.

Thanks 360spiderf1 (and Luca) - you just made my day! :D

I guess it means that for the time being at least, buying a Maserati is still the "cheap" way into the Ferrari ownership experience?

That would be argument enough, not to make one even cheaper than an F430...? ;)

I think the next logical new vehicles will be a SuperAmerica version of the 599GTB complete with a disapearing roof or possibly a flip roof similar to the one most recently offered. The next vehicle might be a 612 GTS
a new 4 seat convertible, this would appeal to large market and has not been done sucessfully in a long time. Just create one with Adobe Photoshop or your thumb and see how beautiful it might look. It may not appeal to people hoping for a new ENZO and thinking that such a car would be might be logical as well as expensive.............I think it would sell very well for Ferrari and create a new line for them. One other hunch says a new vehicle may be named for Michael Schumacher to honor his contribution to Ferrari.

I think you are right. From the first pics I saw of the 599, it looked tailor made to have a retractable glass roof. Also, they have been testing an all wheel drive 612, so that may well be what Luca is referring to.

In that article they refer to the new car as 430 based. So maybe the new car is a 430CS?

Its interesting that he referred to the market they are in as the top end luxury car market. I would have expected it to be something like "high performance sports cars" or something. When I think of top end luxury cars, I think of Bently.

Could Ferrari produce the P4/5 or did napolis retain the rights to the design?

I know its very expensive to most of us but I don't think the 430LP is very "Ferrari expensive"..

Di Montezemolo typically , with Italian sophistication, always understates things. When asked to compare Ferrari with marques like Jag, Mercedes, Dodge Viper, instead of stating the obvious, he calmly, simply stated "They are not a Ferrari".
