    My lovable old Volvo 740 became a gross polluter and California is going to give me a grand to have it crushed. And my father's 94 540i got rear-ended whilst parked on the street is probably a complete total. All in the space of a week. I'll have about 2,500-3,000 to play around with. Trying to come up with something old, cheap and 'coolish'.

    First thing popping up in my mind was a Mercedes Benz 300CD or 300 Turbo Diesel Sedan. But I'm trying to come up with some more options since I would really prefer to get myself a manual and a coupe now that I've lost my Volvo. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

    Noooooooooooooooooooo!

    We have a 740, too. I love it more than any other car I've driven, including my current Audi and just about any new sub-$100,000 car!

    What color is your interior? Maybe I can take some trim pieces before it goes to the crusher? I love those square things so much!

    First thing that comes to mind in that price range with that description is the old 5.0 Mustangs 1989-1995. The latest two years being the SN95 bodystyle and not the boxy Fox body.

    Very reliable even in 150+K miles. Hope this helps some.

    1995 Saab turbo Coupe!!! make sure its a five speed (the auto is more than useless)

    so much fun!!
