eh.. 150.000
when you buy a car there is always some things to do but this is just like the exhaust no big deal, I really like this car an wonder for how much it will go! I think its very difficult to find a better one..
Quite right. NOS mirrors and exhaust are available and other than that I cant come up with anything cosmetic that needs doing. Its at $149k with 4 days still to go and Id say the auction has some steam left. Joe www.JoeSackey.com
And here is the car, 1121036, in the importer's driveway at home in late 1979, a lovely period image of a car whose provenance is known from day one. Joe www.JoeSackey.com Image Unavailable, Please Login
I knew youd appreciate. How's your baby and why are we not seeing images of her graced upon this thread more often? Joe www.JoeSackey.com
Does anyone know the chassis number? Emilio, this one is in France I believe? Joe www.JoeSackey.com www.lamborghiniregistry.com Image Unavailable, Please Login
...is to pick up his brand new Countach at the factory and head straight for a rally event - which is exactly what renowned Alfa vintage racer Joe Nastasi did. Good thing we dont have our Sicilian freind on these forums - I dont think he would stand for too much ;-) LOL. Joe www.JoeSackey.com www.lamborghiniregistry.com Image Unavailable, Please Login
This image speaks for itself. The current owner of THIS car wants to bring it to the Reunion and is hopeful it can be arranged. Joe www.JoeSackey.com www.lamborghiniregistry.com Image Unavailable, Please Login
Bit of news....a 1983 countach is for sale in my village from a classic dealer-it is red/magnolia and only done a warranted 3000 miles. The car is complete with wing and only had 2 owners from new.Interestingly the first owner was none other than Barry Gibb of bee gees fame, i guess he had to do something with the royalties of night fever!
Id agree this is really a decent car that has no obvious excuses and thus has got to bring a decent number too. In hindsight, the EBay venue has helped rather than hindered and the seller did well to take the chance rather than advertise it for a fixed sale-proof amount. I like this one and Ive shared that sentiment with most who have contacted me (nearly everyone who is bidding it seems!). The decent thing for the seller to do with such an unmolested gem was to share it with all comers and he's found a way to do just that. Rarely does a 28-year-old car come un-modified like this. All-in-all a really decent Countach LP400S Series One - the seller concurrs by the way. Love it, love it, love it Joe www.JoeSackey.com www.lamborghiniregistry.com
Thanks Joe. What's it worth? My guess would be $165,000.00? (Retail) It's good to see these going up. They've been undervalued for too long. (Bad for me when I want to buy one LOL)
I dont think youre far off the mark.... But when you have just 50 examples made (lets say 45 remaining), and perhaps just 5 of them that remain unmolested, its got to be worth a decent sum. Now asking $225k like the European red/white car would make it sale-proof, but somewhere under $200k could be the right sum if the owner does the decent thing and lets it go to the top-bidding serious buyer. Its all up to the seller. Lets hope he is a decent fellow - he assures me he is Joe www.lamborghiniregistry.com www.joesackey.com
I understand. Anyone who has been around classic cars for any length of time ought to be familiar with it. Its used quite often in the market for older cars... Joe www.JoeSackey.com www.lamborghiniregistry.com
What ever the price, the smog equipment has to be removed and an original exhaust found and bought for this car. A compression and leak down test also to ensure there is no ring damage, as in needing a motor job that would be about $25,000. If the car is not sold next week I plan to fly up to see it and buy if all checks out. He told me a price that he will take and I agreed. So we will see. PS: Joe if I get this car and in a few years Mike sells the white/white car, I know It will be easy to move from this one to that one.
Tony, From what I have learned of what you appreciate, this car belongs with you. The smog pump deletion and a nice NOS sport exhaust from George will not be a challenge for you at all. Im hopeful the leak-down/compression test will go well. Joe www.JoeSackey.com www.lamborghiniregistry.com
