What a zoo. I saw these two "discusions" and one of them is marked closed. The entire LamborghiniChat.com should be marked that way. It's embarassing to Lamborghini owners. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=145333 http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=145429
I can't believe you frequent this place Fred. I come over to the Maserati section once in a while and since becoming a lambo owner I thought I'd look once again. The Maserati section hasn't ever gotten this ugly that I can remember. I don't mind people strongly discussing things but this, what's the point? Go exercise the ego/macho/testosterone thing on the track(strike that!) or the gym or somewhere else.
Hi Bob, The point is to gather info. You have to realize that other lambo groups are nothing like the VLG. We only started the VLG after realizing that we didn't want to have anything to do with the typical "screaming lunatic" lambo chat group, but we still wanted to chat about our cars. Cheers, Fred
Staatsof: I for one would welcome constructive contributions to this section. There are many. Frankly, Fred, you seem to have gotten into the middle of a couple of these here, so I'm not so sure that you are in a position to be holier than thou about some lunatic fringe element. Staatsof, if you instead meant to make gratutious shots at the board, I wouldn't put your contributions into the category of 'constructive.' There are some longtime members here- and some new ones- who make this place worthwhile. Not meant by any means to shoo you away if your intentions are good. Just don't think showing up here to say "Gee, I never come here, and this place sucks" is a good way to win friends and influence people. Thanks, and if you mean to stay, rather than snipe, by all means 'welcome.'
Actually, Fred, I think I have treated you pretty even-handedly, even though you do seem to be provocative in the Lambo section here, and were last seen cheerleading in the Roy v. Joe Sackey dispute. Now, you seem to suggest that another board with which you apparently have an affiliation is a much saner place, because it does not have the 'lunatic' element that so many other lambo boards suffer from. Why do you regard me as idiotic for saying this? I can certainly have a conversation here without name calling, or personal animus. Or, do you reserve your best behavior only for your own board?
I will say this... There are times we have heated debates here, don't see eye to eye... But I think all in all we treat each other with respect, we just don't always agree with everyones actions. I for one have not felt that I have been mis-treated, sometimes I think the words are larger than I can understand LOL LOL After all we all know I only went to High School and my gramer leaves somewhat to be desired.... But no one ever cares about my gramer when I write them a check for their car, the numbers part of the check always seems to make them smile So I have no issue with the some what colorful debates that take place here.
staatsof, You have a choice of being here. If you don't like it, I suggest you leave. So what if there are arguments? Not everyone is going to have the same views. So quit complaining, you're just adding fuel to the fire.
Whart, You are not an idiot. Sometimes a bucket of cold water in the face wakes people up. Because I haven't been here for a while I can clearly see that "The emperor has no clothes". Here is what I think most people expect from a site and it's moderators: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discussion_group ========================================================= And here is a more accurate definition of the two threads I observed: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cock_fighting A cockfight is a blood sport between two specially trained roosters held in a ring called a cockpit. The combatants, known as gamecocks or cocks, are specially bred birds, conditioned for increased stamina and strength. The comb and wattle are removed from a young gamecock to prevent health problems, such as frostbite or parasites. Cocks possess inherent aggression toward all males of the same species, thus do not require fight training. Wagers are often made on the outcome of the match, and the winner is determined by various rules: not all fights are to the death. Cockfighting is considered either to be a traditional sporting event or to be an example of animal cruelty. ===================================================== In addition to the discussion site Fred is involved with, VLG, someone else contacted me about joining another one which purports to consist of "more civilized" Lambo owners. I'm not sure I have the time to hopscotch all over this many sites. But from this evidence I have to conclude that this sort of behavior by participants and moderators is an issue here for some people. Only two real points I was making. 1. Why in the world do people get into these p*ssing contests? It just ends up making them look bad. 2. Why didn't the plug get pulled earlier and then the thread deleted? To be fair, I have not looked at the time-line so it's possible it happened too fast for the moderator. But why keep these threads around? Ok, so to make sure I wasn't just in a pissy mood the first time around I went and visited the two links again. I vomited once again, twice. Delete the threads already ... I usually try to stay in the technical section as it's less cluttered with stuff like the two threads I mentioned. I promise to stay there. ;>) Bob S.
It's all I could think of to say, Whart. You don't seem to know what you're talking about. All I'm trying to do is make sure the truth gets out before the moderators -- who apparently do not even read the posts -- shut down the thread. If you don't understand how important the Cats/Sackey thread really was, then you just don't know what's going on. You need to get a clue before posting. Cheers, Fred
Fred: I make no pretense to any inside knowledge of the intrigues among the various dealers, historians and others. My only interest, apart from the cars themselves (rather than the politics of the people around the cars) is to have a decent, informative place to share and learn about the cars and their history. The original thread was acrimonious and ultimately inappropriate in my view. It was closed at my request. You then started another thread to continue it because it served some interest on your part. The notion that you can promote rancor here, while touting your own board as a "lunatic free" asylum, strikes me as ironic. And, given the tenor of your posts, I would prefer to remain in blissful ignorance.
Its not that its some people never got their block knocked off there shoulders yet and they act high and mighty. and for the rest of you. I swear some of you guys need to grow up.
I happen to like the Lambo section and there ARE some really good threads, such as the "Countach Reunion" & "Miura Supercar" threads; lots of amazing photographs and info on those threads, and some really knowledgeable chatters. As far as the e-bickering goes....it's really getting old.
Fred- let's not belabor this, because I get the sense that this is becoming a pastime. As I think I indicated in the thread, at the time, Roy's initial calling-out of Joe was fair. I thought the thread then descended into personal diatribes-- on all sides-- that were unproductive and went beyond the legitimate purpose of the initial demand Roy made of Joe for an explanation. As whether a sponsor could do something inappropriate, I don't see why they are immune, anymore than you, or for that matter, even me. Can I kindly ask that we now end this? If you are sincere in your belief that we can conduct Internet discussions without hostility, we are probably both of the same mind.
Fine, we're done. Yay! It's in the archives anyway. And I'd advise everybody to read it. EVEN THE MODERATOR! :-D Fred
