hi, i have a question about insuring a ferrari 355 value $60,000. My son is 20 and he drives a 2005 SL500, his 21st bday is in 2 weeks and one of my friends is moving back to lebanon where im from to retire and he needed to sell so i bought his 355 coupe for $60,000. My son doesn't know yet. I have it at my work. I'm having trouble finding insurance for my son under $700 per month, the SL is alot cheaper. I want to know what insurance companies you are using. I am currently with nationwide and have a few cars insured with them. My son needs no more than 5,000 miles per year because his SL only has 13,000 miles in two and half years.I spoke with my local ferrari mechanic and he told me this was the place to find information. I still don't know how anybody would want a 1996 car instead of a 2005 car but its what he wants for his birthday. Also the mechanic said figure 5K per year service is this right. I need to hurry and get this insured by the 19th also i am in austin,tx. Thanks

Under 25 is going to be expensive, that's just fact.

Try State Farm, they have my 328 insured as a regular vehicle with no restrictions for a very reasonable price.

You might also try some of the collector car insurance companies, but they tend to have restrictions about when/where you can drive them, and restrictions on storage conditions.

Second that I have had all my cars including three Ferraris and prices have been reasonable.

She insured my 355 in Austin when I had the car. I only paid $1400/ year and I was 29 at the time. Allstate underwrites the policies for Hagarty if I am not mistaken.

    ++ on the State Farm.

What we did was to get an old Acura we could use as an airport beater, and listed this as the primary car for the stepson. Then he could have limited use coverage on the Porsche and both the Corvettes. But he is 25 now and this has really helped on the cost.

I'm in the same boat - almost. Considering the purchase of a '98 355B and I have questions about insurance as well.

I live in Los Angeles, California - might make a difference. I'm pretty sure AAA will insure this vehicle at a "reasonable" rate but my other concern is will they insure it for a 'reasonable value'?

I'm finding that since there is no Kelly Blue Book available the process by which they would ascribe replacement value is fuzzy to say the least.

What deductibles do you folks purchase?

What company is reasonably priced and has demonstrated they pay fairly in the event of a major claim, ie., total loss due to collision or theft? (or are Ferraris never stolen and never wrecked in which case who cares about anything other than liability?)

My 360 Modena is only $100/month.

The keys to the best rate were:
    1. State Farm.
    2. Multi-car discount (give them all your car business)
    3. The named insured is not in his early 20's.

Also, my agent said that someone else could drive my car to some degree, w/out me even being in the car (!) and coverage would still be in place. Look, I'm not thinking of all the ETHICAL issues right here, but at least contemplate having the car in YOUR name, and insurance in YOUR name, and letting him drive it. Again, always think about the ethics before you decide on something, but I do wonder how many people do something like this??

Average $5000/year for maintenance/repairs is NOT that far off, for an average real-world figure for a 355, I would guess.

my father has a rolls royce phantom with nationwide and he pays around $2500 a year and he has it insured for $300K+, you should just get something with a huge deductible bc its very unlikely anything will happen if he's driving so little
