76 308 Glass car. 2 original owner, complete with books and records from 1976. Original and documented 10,500 miles Original rugs, paint, seats (not redyed) Full out engine in 2001 compelete mechanical resto with invoice of $45,000 CDN everything was done including front end. Spoiler is the only part that has respray, no accidents. 1st owner from 76-2000, and second owner from 2000-present. Whats it worth as far as cost ? Yes everything was verified. Thanks for your help.
If it's black and tan, ship it to me, lol. Probably needs a full major (unless that was done since 2001) and the seats are probably faded/hard if they haven't been treated, but it sounds like a US$60K car if I had to guess. Is the original paint OK or showing its age? (cracked/spiderwebbed, faded etc.) Does a "complete mechanical restoration" mean an engine rebuild?

Rick, Seeing as I know the car you are referring to quite honestly I would say that it is worth the exorbitant figure I know the owner wants for it. Quite simply because you can either pay now or later with one of these cars and in this case you are essentially getting a new car. With that said if you buy this car you better be ready to KEEP IT because you will be hard pressed to find someone who would give you the money for it if you wanted to sell. If however you wanted to pile on the mileage and enjoy it this is a good choice.
I am alittle thrown on its price, but when you compare it with whats out there, it does seem to make sense. Yes the car is red/blk so it would make a good start to my collection. I would have no intention of selling(until death anyways) Bullfiighter, the car is all oringal paint (2 small spider webs on the one fender), and the interior is not tired at all, it has never seen sun this car, or very little. When i meant mechanically restored, the engine and tranny did not not rebuilding, but everything was redone, carbs, ignittion, belts, hoses, shocks, everything that it needed to get back onto the road. (2001/2002) Original radio, with all the orginal documentation from the factory, i think ( i think) the orginal bill of sale is also with this car.
Rick I have a lot of cars to remember but I am almost sure that the engine was re-built on this one. I don't want to slander the previous state of the engine because I would want to make sure that it is the same car. Regardless because knowing where the work was done the engine is for sure better than even when it left Ferrari. Blowed up or not that engine for sure now is PERFECT. I know the owner had very deep pockets and fixed the car regardless of expense.

Agreed. Buy the best. Now - did I miss the asking price? Again, I'd be all over it if it was black. Not easy to find a 'done' glass 308 even in red, though.
Low $40K...we did one last week. High $60K if you have faith in the engine rebuild... Color? Mileage?
I know the car is rare, sought, and with virtually irreplaceable mileage. Condition and originality also heavily in favor. Comes down to that ever elusive "finding the right buyer" kind of thing. Some people say about the buyer, "Well, all it takes is one!" and I disagree, believing instead is "All it takes is TWO" since someone else has got to help establish the level they're not willing to go higher than to prove the other one will. Auctions, both organized and not, come to mind. With that wild-card disclaimer, I think MOST 308/328 buyers have to ask themselves how badly they want THIS over the other iterations, including pristine 328s, which for the moment represent another water mark in the evoloution. If a low mile, fine-as-they-come 328 is in the $60-65 range (please, I'm talking general terms not about the exceptions) then to me this is tugging at the glass 308 market. I'd put the top of the 308 glass cars somewhere in the same range, pushing to maybe the $70grand retail mark, and feel that might be a stretch. Sure, I agree that in time this car may be a comer. Just my opinion on this day, as you asked. Of course the second disclaimer is the same as the first, if YOU want this car a bit more than the "other" guy wants it, you can be the one to establish the new, true market!

You are correct Rob, i confirmed today. Its all been redone from scratch, i saw the invoices today. It was actually done exactly 4 years ago today completed. I also saw all the before and after pics. It makes sense as too why he is asking the price he is, it is a new car, and only 10,000 orignal miles on the car to boot, and it shows underneath, there is no mistaking it on the body panels under there. The clock had 7,800 miles in 2003 when he did this task.

I just purchased a car VERY similar. Again, i've read the thread a few times, am I missing the asking price as well? We just had a thread about the car i just picked up a few weeks back. I picked up #19735 two weeks ago. Silver on Black. '76 glass - 14k original miles. Car is in excellent shape as well. last major service was like in 2001. They owner was asking 50k and he would get the "service" done that needed to be done. Well i'd rather be in charge of what service was going to get done so after some haggling i paid 39,500 for the car two weeks ago. I still don't have it in my posession. The body shop is cleaning up some paint issues right now and said it will look brand new when they are done. This is the body shop that works on all of the local Maserati's and Ferrari's for the local dealer. Once it gets back to the dealer, they are going do to a full engine out service, belts, etc. I wanted to make sure that i had the service performed myself to make sure nothing was skimped on. So from a pricing persepctive. I think I got a great deal on the car, i've been wanting a 76 and have always liked the silver cars. I hope to have the car in its new home around hte end of the month. Hey Joe, Nice nice, i saw the pics but didnt know your car was a glass Car. This has all books, and records, and its a legit 2 owner car that hasnt left the country or state. Engine was compeltely redone in 2003, all done to spec, (if not better) all original 10,500M car...the price is 80K CDN, which i think works out to about 66K US. keep in mind, that it just got comepletely redone (2003), new brakes, calipars,disks, shocks, ball joints, the list goes on and on.
