Quick question, how many of you guys smoke? When did you start, what brand do you smoke? Cigarettes or cigars? Personally, I've quit after 4 years of mild smoking.

I smoke a nice cigar now and then after a good dinner. I've never liked cigs.

Cigs are the devil. I smoke about 1/2 to 3/4 a pack a day, for 17 years. I hate it and would love to quit, but everytime I try I turn into the antichrist and terrorize my coworkers. Next attempt will involve nicotine gum. BTW, I smoke Camel Menthol Lights. Hate 'em.

Apparently, for 2007, "quit smoking aids" are deductable as medical expenses on your Form A.

I realized a while back that the biggest issue with quitting smoking is that you have to *want* to -- not just that "everyone" is telling you to (while waiving their little red books).

I tried the nicotine gum during a long flight. I'd have been better off chewing a cigarette. Stop smoking aids are a big money industry -- amazing how many are worthless.

I wonder how much other political correctness has somebody making a buck off it.

I smoked a packet+ a day for 25 odd years. Giving up the habit was the hardest challenge I've encountered in life. Smoking is a filthy, insidious habit. I gave up years ago and I now jog 6km along the beach every day. My lungs are great (albeit, they will have scars on them for the term of my life - a legacy of this dirty habit). Footnote: it takes approximately 6 months after you give up to rid the body of the nicotine syndrome - the revelation is that you can once again taste and smell things like a normal human being should. Go figure.

FYI, my mom quit smoking in '84 after 30 years. 10 years later she had heart surgery (unrelated) and the doctor told her that her lungs looked excellent, almost as if she had never smoked. So there is hope...

Love the occasional cigar, and I even love the occasional cigarette. I LOVE to smoke, I just know that it's terrible for the body, so I just don't let myself get carried away. I hadn't had a cigarette since January, until this past weekend, had about 4. Dunhill Lights and Players Lights are my choices, sometimes American Spirits.

Cigars are meant for enjoyment, like a fine wine. Love em!

Cigarettes are meant for a quick nicotine fix, like a drug. Hate em!

If everybody stops smoking right now, every one of the 50 States will immediately go bankrupt.

Over 40 years smoking Camel sans filtre. Quit 'em 16 months ago. Now I 'only' smoke 3-4 cigars a day.

I'll have the occasional cigar but I try to steer clear of cigarettes, they're pretty disgusting.

Yeah that's great news re you Mom. On the contrary I've heard of autopsies done on heavy smokers who had disgustingly black and charred lungs. Giving up sooner rather than later will most probably save a few nails in one's coffin.

I was a 2 pack per day smoker. I smoked Marlboro Reds and Camel Filters.

I quit cold turkey 2-21-1992 and I will NEVER smoke another cigarette. I do enjoy cigars but can go for weeks at a time without them if I want.

funny you ask. quit smoking 3 weeks ago after after about 6 years of 1/4 of a pack per day. always hated that part of myself. tried to quit in the past too (didnt smoke for almost a year once), but every time i go to europe, i pick the habit right back up :(

to help me deal better with quiting, i also started working out twice a day.

hopefully this one is for good.

btw, to answer your question: used to smoke marlboro lights but switch to camel filters a couple of years ago. not sure why.

also, never understood cigars. love fine wine, enjoy expensive meals, fancy cars, great vacations, etc... but cigars i just dont get. tried it a few times, but... maybe i am doing it wrong?

Smoked ciggs for 10-12 years, then quite cold turkey. I locked myself in an apt for a week, with no $$, no car, and a handfull of ciggs. It was hell, but I came out a changed man :)
I smoked Camels, usually regular one's, then switched to Camel Menthol Lights for the last few years. Pack a day, but was up to 2 right before I quit.

I smoke cigars once in a while, usually about once every 3 months or so.
