Me too. I don't know why, but I love house build projects - I'm a sucker for home building/renovation programmes on TV...

    Congrats....!

Ferrari's come and go, as cars do , , , but a house will pay off $$$$$, in the coming economic inflation.....

    inflation must occur for a few reasons;
    1) Make USA products more saleable overseas.
    2) Reduce the National Debt.

    This be my hood,,,,,,

    Please do !
I am a do-it-yerselfer also. I have tackled many renovations at my home here in SI too. We are toying with the idea of a roof raise right now.
Move to Jersey, or expand our cape..... Decisions Decisions.

    Best of luck

My one recco with dealing with contractors:

    Buy plenty of Excedrin

    Will do.
Depending on weather, we should start soon. It might actually snow here on Long Island. My building permit was approved and I am signing with the contractor tomorrow.
Now I'm off to buy that extra large bottle of Excedrin.

    Impressive.

My wife wouldn't trust me around the house with anything more than a Fisher Price hammer.

Here is the latest update to the pic from 2/11
They framed out the first floor. The roof is coming off this week. Now the fun starts. We have had some pretty cold weather, so things got delayed a bit. I should have some good pictures within the next week or so.

Wow that looks like a massive project. If you don't mind me asking, what is your budget for all of this?

I'm in the process of doing something similar to my ranch, but instead of going up, we're staying one-storey. Gutted and added 2800 s.f., plus 500 s.f. garage. Taping the rock as we speak (sic)!
    Good luck!

edit: Is that your hot tub alongside the dumpster and behind the pallet of block?

    $400K
The house will be 3200sqf. Where I live, we figure $100/sqf. Obviously there are upgrades to the basic price.

ADDING 2800sqf to the ranch! That will be some size house. My garage will be 400sqf. Below is a pix of the inside. We are adding 6 ft to it to be 20x20, 2 car.
The item in front of the cinder blocks is another, smaller dumpster.
