Samantha tells me the registration books are open and already 12 Countach are registered. So much for the concern that just the usual 4 or 5 would show as May and June see quite a few entries she says.
10 years ago I remember telling Frank Mandarano that we wanted to get 10 Miuras together one day and he laughed. When we did the first Miura Reunion 27 Miuras showed up. Maybe we will have that many Countachs this year? At any rate it should be fun.

The saying in a good book is:

"Nothing will whip a restorer into a frenzy of activity better than the impending visit of an owner......arrange to visit often"

So I visited Gary at his State-of-the-Art facility and here is some of what I saw (other than extremely clean floors!).
The LP400 is coming along and should be driving away next week (or maybe the week after....). "Two weeks" is what he has been saying for months! My own fault though, as I always find additional little details I want attending to.

In the images below you can see Gary looking as though he is speaking to the car, pleading for it to co-operate with his not inconsiderable effort to make "110" into a completed, running and yet stunning black beauty. LOL.

Thanks to Gary, Greg, Eric, Leonard, Mike, Nigel & Carlo. I know what an exacting (Im sure there are less polite words...) client I can be, but at the end of the day beautiful things result.

PS - Joe (nunzio), I can confirm that the rumor is true. I actually witnessed with my own eyes men turning wrenches upon your very own Bizzarrini. However, when I went to get my camera, they had mysteriously dissappeared :)

They were an option for USA and rest-of-the-world cars and they could be ordered as an option. They were also purchased as a retro-fit by some who couldnt get comfortable with the standard Annivesario seat (I couldnt).
The frame of the sports seat was similar to that of the later Diablo's, and contrasting piping usually ran down the inseam at the edge of the seat inserts (rather than the seat edges as in standard seats). A fairly rare application.

    Joe,

I saw this Countach about a year ago in a salvage yard about 20 miles from me. I phoned them today; the engine and gearbox is sold, the car is otherwise mostly complete but was damaged.

Its been there at least 3 years, could be more.

Write off may be accounted for by the rising values in that period, or that pic may be its "good side".

I note you were saying that this model is the best value at present. What is the value of a perfect one these days?

Its a professional but rough and ready place. Its just down the road, if you ever want anything off it I'll be happy to go and have a look. A good excuse to poke around it.

Speaking of Annivesarios, I have just confirmed that an old freind has a brand-new car in his basement garage, still un-registered and on MSO, plastic on the seats, Valentino's test miles (all 125 km of them) on the clock.

In other Countach news 2 LP400 sold in Europe this past week for $325k & $350k respectively and a Countach S sold for $120k.

    1979, car in Japan.
An even better deal is the QV in Germany with just 8,000 that can be purchased at $110k, but you cannot bring that car to the USA currently.

Not that rare for a Annivesario car, espically a USA F.I. car..I know of at least 4 cars ALL under 500 miles, ALL being held by owners as well with out titles..the thought was as the last car, buy it, hold on to it and watch it go up and sell it...

I just (IMO) dont see these cars going up much more...not rare in numbers, to much electronics, to much bolt on body parts, to much Chrysler Influence...

I also found the 89 I had, slower than its front runners and almost to, how shall I say "over simplified" almost to easy to drive and looking more like a production line car with the numbers produced...

1979 Countach LP400S Series One 1121080 sold for $120k. If my direct source is wrong, this will be the first time he has been wrong in several years. I have not seen this car personally and therefore cannot comment to if it is a decent car or not. However, I doubt it will be to the standard of what we call 'Concours' in the USA.

1986 Countach QV downdraught carburetted white/red 7,456 miles, offered to me personally yesterday for $110k flat. Advertised for sale by both my freind Laurent Auxietre and Michael Brinkert who 'officially' asks 67k GBP.(Im sure everybody has seen the links to FA Automobiles & Brinkert).
As with most QVs, this one has been for sale for a while. Again I have not seen it (you can view pics at those sites and see for yourself) but here too I doubt it is a perfect car.

Nothing "suspect", just the facts. Maybe not the prices that the owner of same model cars might want to hear (understandably so), but as they say: "Hold your fire. Dont shoot the messenger".

Cars in the USA already are much more desired, usually in better condition, and naturally therefore worth a bit more. How much more? I dont have one to sell so I havent a clue.
