I'm new to the forum, so first I'd like to say 'hello' to everyone. My new-to-me 1986 3.2 Mondial Cabrio will be here (Seattle) on Friday morning. Its my first Ferrari but in some ways I feel I've kind of always had one (kind of like an imaginary friend I guess.) I've had other Italians (Alfas and Fiats), Porsches, BMWs, etc. in the past and currently have an 84 Turbo Esprit and a 2000 M5 in the stable, but this is the high point in my 'collection' up to this point!

My car is red with red (!) interior, any other Mondials out there with that color combo? Is there any way to get a count on production numbers for a specific color combo?

Is there any other way (to drive a sports car)? As soon as it's here, I'll get some pics up.

Thanks Hank. How many Seattle owners are out there and whats the schedule for drives this summer? I've been on a couple of drives with the Lotus and the M5 and it was some of my best spent time - ever. I can only imagine how much fun a Ferrari drive would be...

    Congrats HPINFO!

Don't seek counselling..It's normal to keep peeking in the garage at the car after it arrives!

    Have fun and enjoy!

Is it customary to let the oil temp (not water temp) get up to a predetermined level before extracting some HP? If so, what temp would you recommend?

You know, when you originally posted that you bought a convertible and you lived in Seattle, my first thought was "Huh? Why?" :D

But congrats and enjoy! Just take some towels in the car with you to catch the drips :) (I do)

And yes - let the oil temp get to the first mark (ie ON the scale) before getting keen. That's the rule I have followed with 3 different F cars, but you'll get as many oppinions as you do replies. I also have never just started the car and let it idle to warm up. I usually start it, then get buckled in, kids buckled etc, then drive off real gently, progressively using more throttle as the weater and oil temps come up. I am also one of the "high mile" drivers. I have put 12000 miles on my Mondial t in under 18 months.
