Well said. Hey, we're talking about a guy who just might win his first GP in only his third start! I've been rooting for Ferrari in F1 for many, many years, but I'm really excited about this kid Hamilton!
I don't believe there is 'sandbagging' in F1 anymore. 99% of races are won on the first turn of the race, whomever gets there and comes out ahead. That being said, the drivers cant come in at the same lap, so one car must have a couple laps more fuel, and that is always going to be the slower of two drivers unless you have a clear top dog on your team. Heavy loads only work if you have to start at the back and work your way up through the pack (at slower speeds than the leaders anyway). The race leader will invariably have a 15+ sec lead by the first pit, and enough to stay in front if all goes according to plan. So I don't think its strategy to give Kimi and FA heavy loads other than to allow them both a chance to stay out a bit while the race leaders pit first. Kimi or FA's best chance to win is if Massa and Hamilton crash out in turn one, but more likely, Hamilton will beat out Massa if last week is any indication. Massa will back off rather than crash out unless the team has told him to do otherwise, which I doubt. Just my 2c. FORZA FERRARI
On the F1 website Massa is quoted as saying that they now know what Hamiltion can do and will no longer give him the room to do it. I wouldn't be surprised if Massa sacrifices his car to give Kimi a chance.
Mazza qualified 3/10th faster than Hamilton, which is alot by today's standards. I don't think he will give way.
Riiiight, Massa. He thinks he learned everything Lewis is capable of from two turns. Turn 1 Australia and Turn 1 Malaysia. Please, Flipup. He has no idea what this kid's potential is. I wouldn't be surprised if he does the same thing to Massa tomorrow, lol.
I think it is Ferrari's way of warning LH that they will not give him room this time and yes a crash is possible.
Awesome job by Hamilton. He seems to go from strength to strength. I won't be surprised if he sneaks his way into the lead at the first corner. He is looking good for a win. However, I think Kimi and Alonso are fueled more than their team mates. Should be an exciting race tomorrow.
+1 with exception Lewis has to major obstacles 1. A nervous Massa in front 2. An Aggressive Kimi behind Both have been victim too his brilliant starts and might take him out trying to gain or defend their positions.
I agree, the Marlboro branding is such a better look on the car. I do not hate the bar codes but, it's not the best either. I've been a supporter of Massa's for a while, but he has to really show something tomorrow or my support is going to start to trail off. We've all seen him great performances in the past, he just needs to step up and make it happen now. He really does not have any excuses why he can't win from pole in that car. As for Kimi, I sure hope he's heavy, otherwise he really has to pick up his game as well. I thought for sure Kimi would be the one grabbing poles, not Massa. But by the look of him during the interview, I don't think he's heavy. Kimi seemed way to down to be sitting in third with a heavy tank. Mark
What Massa has to do is hold his line ONE TIME and take the consequences, and McLaren will stop testing him. Words aren't enough. McLaren will continue to test him, and laugh all the way to the podium if he blinks again. It's imperative or his career with Ferrari can be over in an instant. Being a good qualifier isn't good enough. You MUST be fearless at the start.
hello, since this was a response to my post, perhaps we should look back a bit. do you remember how speed went out of their way to remind us how great juan pablo montoya was during his rookie season? tell me you can't hear the dissapointment in their voices every time mark webber retires from a race. or how they used to talk up jenso button during his maiden season. when you've broken every major record in your sport, you've earned the right to be gawked at during a broadcast. hamilton is quick, and has a bright future in F1. i love formula 1 more than any other sport. i'd just prefer a more "neutral" broadcast. thats all. just my opinion. jospeh
I think you have to put it in the perspective of what an important sport F1 is to the Brits, and this is the new British GREAT HOPE! I think it's good for the sport, and don't have a problem with it. He has earned the expectations, and now is earning his stripes. I think the more great drivers in the sport the better for everyone. Just my 2c.
Well I dont see the guys that were in here last week slamming Massa. If Massa gets off to a good start and Kimi falls back then I hope the same boys come on here and tell us all how Kimi is the #2 driver and maybe behind Hamilton as well. It will be intresting tomorrow but you are right, Massa has to hold the line even if it means banging wheels. If he backs off then he is finished. By the way Alonso dosnt seem to have it in quali. mmmm I wonder whats happening there?
I think everyone knows this is Massa's kind of track...if he can get through the first corner, he should put together a good race.
If things keep up this way, it looks like Ralf and DC might get the boot at the end of the season. Trulli thrashed Ralf in qualifying, and DC has been having mechanical problems, but at qualifying for Sepang where there seemed to be no problems, Mark blew him away. Also, Davidson had a great run. This makes me wonder if Davidson's car was better, or is Sato just not getting enough out of the car?
