It should be at LeMans according with the info that goes with the picture, and its correct that is the winning car from 1949. Notice the number 22. I think its down the Mulsane straight, but its strange to se the safety regulations those days.
Did it ran with the LeMans number at Watkins Glen??

Looks like a Packard on the right shoulder of the road. It does not look like the Glen to me. I believe Cunningham had one of the first Ferraris in America but it was a Corsa Spider. Interesting Mystery.

In my opinion not Watkins Glen but the Mulsanne. Look behind the Chinetti Ferrari and there is at least one Citroen (how many of those were in the Glen in 1949?), the architecture is not upstate New York, (only been there once I admit) and the road continues in a straight line into the distance, as the Mulsanne does . I also believe it is not during the race, therefore the cars parked casually along side the road.

************.com had this picture posted once and there was a story which went with it which explained the American cars at the sidewalk cafe, which I could remember it.

I believe that could be the Briggs Cunningham car at Watkins Glen. The car is currently in the Collier Museum in Naples, FL. My guess is that the driver is Miles Collier, Sr.?
Thanks for posting the photos, David

The fifth car is the Cunningham C4RK of John Gordon Bennett and Charles Moran at Le Mans 1953, they finished tenth. It's not easy to see the number of the fourth car.

Le Mans 1953 - at Mulsanne Corner.

The fifth car is a C4R (the RK is the car with the roof in the foreground!) of Gordon -Bennett/Moran.

The fourth car is either the #12 340MM of Ascari/Villoresi or the #14 car of the Marzotto 's (brothers)

Yes - 1952 of course, sorry. I should have noticed the C types were the cars with the dodgy aerodynamics which caused them to overheat that year! (that will teach me to crosscheck!)
