Ok---Maybe I am not doing something correctly. I cleaned up the interior today after a long drive. Went to move the passenger seat forward to vacuum and nothing. I pulled the bar on the front of the seat to slide it forward and nothing. It will not slide forward or back...Any suggestions?? Drivers side slides back and forth no problem...

Robbie, you have got to stop cleaning your car  ;) ..... remember a while back when you 'cleaned' your sled the interior light stayed on ;)???

This time I have no experience as my spider has electric seats. All I can say is pull the lever up then let it snap down while you jiggle and twist/yaw the entire seat. Also get a strong flashlight and look for any obstructions even tiny ones (try this first ;) ) Good luck man :)

Mine was sticky, I had the carbon seats. I found it occasionally would only move if I was sitting in the seat (not hanging in from the door). It made sliding the seats forward to stow the roof a bit onerous at times.

Ultimately I pulled the seats out (not that hard), cleaned and lubed the rails, and all was well.

Maybe it’s a French fry stuck between the seat sliders. Just kidding. Not sure on the 355 but most manual seats have a wire or spring that attaches the slide handle to the left & right seat track sliders. If the wire came loose or has fallen off the tracks will bind and not slide.

    Yup.

What is happening is that the rail locks are not coming completely out of the locking slots. You may have some gunk build up around the hinge, something between the spring and the top of the rail lock, or only one of the locks is coming out and the other partially. There isn't any wire, the bar attaches to both sides.

    So what to do?

Go in the kitchen and get the biggest knife you can find. Then stab it all the way into the seat and slice it wide open.

Hahahahaha just messing with you. :p

Okay seriously, here is what you do.

Use a long pry bar to help pop the locks out of the slots. Do this as you are pulling up on the seat bar. Be sure to check that there isn't anything preventing the rail lock from coming completely out of the hole. You'll also need a flashlight to help you see, as not much light gets under there.

Let us know how it goes.

I've taken the seats out multiple times. It's just 4 allen bolts. If your seat is far enough forward to see/reach the back two allen bolts, then I'd suggest that route.

If not, then put your hands under the seat onto the black bar that releases the rails to move your seat. Slide your hands down the bar until you are far enough under the seat to have enough leverage to squeeze the bar's sides together.

That should release the seat to move.

The entire bar can even be removed from the seat by squeezing its sides together hard enough.

Just replace it with a 348 seat :D and make them sisters of 348 owners happy.

Funny how this thread pops up at the right timing. My passenger seat has suffered the same symptoms since last week. It's stuck at the most rear track position. I've tried to sit my big fat arse on it and rock back and forth like there's no tomorrow it just wouldn't move. It's stuck. I can't even pull up on the bar much at all. Driver side seat is totally fine.

I'll try what you guys suggested this afternoon to see if I can free it.

Ok guys...I need some help here please.

Just spent last 30min practically placing my head on the carpet floor and trying to peek under the seat. It's real tight space there. There is no way I can slide my hand (let alone both hands) under the seat far enough to try to feel/look for the rail lock/release. I've tried to visually compare the problem side to the working side and was unable to notice any difference. I can see there is a metal wire spring attched at the end of the black release bar. What I need to see is the actual rail lock and how that black bar make it drop out of the hole on the rail track. Anyone has pictures or diagrams from the shop manual would be much appreciated.

My seatbase was pushed all the way back and stuck at that position. I can easily access the front allen bolts but unable to get to the back allen bolts, so removing the seat is out of the question for me I guess. I can pull on the black release bar (it does go up and down and I can feel that wire spring working at the end of the bar) but seat just wont slide.

    TIA

#23 is the same bar on the manual 355 seats as on the 348. It's the same bar that you lift up to allow you to move your seat.

What happens is that lifting up #23 squeezes its 2 sides which pulls its 2 ends out of your tracks/rails.

When the ends are in your tracks/rails, they act like a brake. When they are out, then the seat can move forward/backward.

    Thank you very much.

Now I'll head back out to garage and see if I can "squeeze" the two sides of that #23 bar toward eachother.

    Wish me luck.

...will report back in alittle bit...

unscrew #25. There's a #25 on each side, in front of the seat. Once they are out, the seat will rock back about 2 inches, giving you plenty of room underneath.

    HAPPY TO REPORT: IT WORKED!!!!!!

My passenger seat is no longer stuck!

This is what I did: Again using my big fat arse but this time sitting toward the front edge of the seat and using both hands to really pull up on that #23 bar hard and at the same time jerk my whole body forward and that did it.
...and look what I found under the seat: A penny and a dime. Wow, 11 cents on top of getting my seat free again.

I think seat got stuck because it was pushed all the way to the rear ( I remember reading on another car forum about this but don't remember to confirm). So mental note to self and to all others: DO NOT push seat ALL THE WAY BACK.

Thank you No Doubt and thank you Fchat!
