So I go to this party and leave my umberella on this couch where the host told me it will be secure, and when the party is done I get my jacket and my umberella is missing. It's raining hard out and i'm mad the host did not leave things seperate or someone to keep an eye on things. As I exit the building, I see this kid with my umberella(I know cuz I put tape on the metal part) and ask him to give my property back. Suddenly he gets all mad and says "I didnt take your shyt cuz, my homie gave it to me" So I wait to see if he's telling the truth, and some other kid runs up to him and says, "Don't worry bout him, he aint gonna do nothing" and i'm standing there wondering if he stole it because now this random kid acts like I wont do nothing if I he's lying(which 99.9% I wouldn't because its not worth getting hurt over a $5 item).

So then the other guy comes and the man who had my property asks him if he took it from the party(no ****) and he comes up with a excuse "Yea cuz, I brought it from my crib" and I get mad because clearly the tape I put on there is on and he's lying out his ass. I tell him to give me back or else and suddenly the three guys pull guns out there pockets(I was scared ****less won't lie) and tell me to shut the F up or i'm dead. I let them go because obviously I don't have a chance of getting it back now without dying(they looked crazy enough to pull it).

My question is, since these kids are students....should I get my umberella back with legal force or leave it be? I know how they are and it's not hard to find em.

This is no joke. Although it's only $5, it's a matter of respect. I don't want stories about me going around that I can't get my **** back and i'm a *****. But I don't want to walk somewhere someday and get beat up or worse for wanting something that is MY property back.

Three guys pull guns on you and threaten to kill you, and your worried about your street cred!?! It seems like you need to take a look at the people and the places you are hanging out at. I am not saying its your fault, but your life was put in jeapordy over a $5 umbrella. Since you cant control the actions of stupid losers, you have to try to limit your exposure to them.(Although it gets harder and harder because they are everywhere.)

It seems like you should have bigger concerns then what if other people think you "cant get your stuff back." Assault with a deadly weapon comes to mind.

    1) Get a witness to back you up.

    2) Call the f'in cops. Wreck their futures. They crossed the line when they pulled out guns on you.

    3) Choose better parties to go to (no offense intended here, honestly).

Street cred is not on my mind. I just don't like the fact of someone taking my stuff and I'll see them again and they would act like nothing happened.

I'm not the only one who was robbed some girls purses got stolen with keys, phones, etc. It's just not right....and with legal force I meant cops. Who knows what else they could of taken. I don't use a gun nor plan too. I just expected this behavior somewhere else because i'm in a college, not in the streets.

I'm just going to lay it on ya. If you go where the vast majority of creeps have no father they can identify, no mother or sister they can respect, no education because either they, or the NEA won't let that happen. Where it's cool to be stupid. Where it is better to steal than to work because that is the only way to get "respect," you are going to get hurt. Ask yourself how the thief got into the party. Who let him in?

Thank God you are alive. Don't go there again.

Personally......I'd sue all the rap music producers over this. They are creating an entire generation of useless people. Kinda puts Don Imus in a better light if you ask me.

Thats a crazy situation. I think you could go to the police and tell them the story I'm sure the guns are not registered or that don't have a ccw, although that dosen't mean you can pull your gun on someone. I'm sure they would get in a fair amount of trouble, but then what happen to you when there friends find out about you. I say let it go it sucks but you don't want to get hurt over it. Stay away from those people and all will be fine.

I thought about it deeper, it's not worth it to go the extra steps. I'm not risking anyone gettin hurt over this, I slipped into thinking the atomsphere was safe. I doubt they have criminal records and can all go away. I don't wanna look over my shoulder, so I'll swallow it.

As for the party, I knew most of the people in there. It was a diverse group, and most of us had a good time. I'm talking future engineers, lawyers, business people. I go to Penn State(no State Penn jokes please) and it's not a crime-ridden area or whatever you may think. Just a small pair of bad apples that happen to get greedy once in a while.

The issue with that party was, while it was an invite-only...some people decided to bring their friends...and their friends brought their friends...and **** happens.

I'm glad to hear you have given it deeper thought. You are obviously not deprived but, you are a lot wiser. I know you know exactly what to do when you become a father. You just may be on your way. Good fellow!

so the kids that pulled the guns are students? I would definitly at least file a report with campus police so they have it on file. They need to know students are running around with guns and such.

I wanted the cops to handle the situation, but I'm done playing superman. I'm still having thoughts race through my mind as far as why that one guy took so long to come back to his buddies, or how many people actually know these guys personally, etc. But things happen and i'm safe so I should be thankful. Selfish way to put it, although they arent on my campus i'm sure I could of tracked em down... but I don't need anymore hassle, just have to watch myself better next time so I don't slip.

Not wise to confront people I only seen for a few hours.

It ain't just this generation. A revolver was pulled on me, in class, in Fall of 1973. I didn't say a goddamned thing.

6 Cholos looked at me like "what are you gonna do now?"

I kept a straight face & pretended it never happened. Most importantly, I mentioned it to no one.

This saved me the grief of "I said, he said" and retaliation, let alone grief to my parents, if I'd joined the body count. Oh, it was so high in that rinky-dink town.

In High School, throughout the School Years of '75-78, my locker was on their turf. I surreptitiously noted combinations to said lockers, memorized 'em, wrote 'em down and when the time was ripe... paid visits in the wee hours when nobody was around.

It was so fun to keep a straight face whenever 1 or more of the 6 Cholos found he was missing a whooooooole buncha stuff he kept stashed, etc.. You know, Nunchakus, 8-Track players, Booze, Weed, Books & Completed Projects which were due the day they thought, "Houston, we have a problem."

Nobody had a clue & I experienced pure joy watching waves of panic. **** me? No, **** you, Pal.

Jules Winfield's telling of Ezekiel 25:17...

"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who in the name of charity and goodwill shepherds the weak through the Valley of Darkness, for he is truly his Brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee."
