I can hardly understand the Miura market, much less the Bizzarini market...LOL.

Am I reading this correct? the ILR entry for 4892 states:

"Uniquely, this SVJ is fitted with 9-inch front wheels rather than the standard 7-inch items."

Ah, so there is no way to know which chassis as the factory did not keep records of which car a test plate went on, I dont think.

However, if the film's production company purchased the car, there is a remote chance of the chassis number being recorded somewhere....

film came out in august '69 so the car was probably bought sometime in '68 or early '69

I don't visit F-Chat much these days but have just read all 36 pages of this thread during a bout of insomnia. Magical stuff.

Linked below are two photos of a Miura I have seen several times recently, locally to where I live. These were both taken on the same day as I was fortunate enough to be following it in slow moving traffic. I have seen it twice since then so it appears the owner is not afraid to drive it.

If anyone knows any more about the car's history I'd be intrigued to hear it, by PM if needs be. Thanks.

i looked at the pics on the registry.
    http://www.lamborghiniregistry.com/Miura/MiuraSV/4892.html
in the last of the grainy pics the front wheels dont look wider than normal but in the next pic they look wider.

actually the way the fornt wheels sit well inside the arches is one of the only things i dont like about the miura - so the wider look (in my eyes) is a real improvement.

Its a P400 and it might even be the very first RHD example (I think). Ive re-posted your images off the links... at any rate this very car was in a definitive Miura article in CAR magazine in August 2006 entitled "The Day The Earth Caught Fire" (sounds ominous)

I also think that the more you drive a Miura on a regular basis, the better it runs.

That settles it then. The 9" front wheels are a retrofit.

Definitely looks to be the case-why didn't I see that?! Thanks for the sharp eyes...

PS I feel the same about the 7's, don't know if I'd go to 9 though Not an immediate concern for me however.... <sigh!>

I think the new owner will consider putting it back to what was.

    Joe,

It's $400 to do the air tops w/ exchange. Total stripping and sanding down of them and then yes painted in the egg-shell white (with a very minimal gloss). The logo's are then printed and silk screened on making sure they are facing each other and aligned correctly on the airfilter housing by a diagram sheet we have made up.

    Have a great saturday!

Thanks Carlo. There you go folks, inflation adds another $100. LOL. However, they turn out just beautifully. At least can attest to that correctly....
