    Hi men,
Joe asked me some posts ago about the VIN of the red LP 400 that appeared in an Italian movie from the 70ies.

This red car had a registration in Rome. I checked this plate-number and got this veeeery interesting info:

    a. this registration belonged to ---an Alfa!!
    b. this Alfa was stolen in Rome in the mid 70ies!

This means to us that we can`t unveil the VIN of the LP 400.
So, how comes this plate to this LP 400? I leave all speculations, options open...........!!

I luuuuuuve the Land of Pizza & Pasta!!!

    Ciao!

I'm going to try a little "outside the box" thinking.

If the plate is stolen and the photo is old, how could you know anything about the Countach it is on?

I think Walter gave us everything he could. Unless the car (still wearing the plate) is still around.

Lets not forget that we are talking about a car used in a movie here. The car could have been from anywhere in Italy or Europe but they needed a Rome plate to make it authentic. I'm sure the plate came off of some car in the parking lot where they were filming.

    Precisely.
Remember too, the aforementioned plate is reported as stolen in the mid-70s. The movie was made ostensibly in 1980. Nothing here strikes me as very strange for Italy in that period. Cars got stolen all the time, and its easy to imagine how a movie production company got hold of a "used" Roma plate specifically mounted on this car to give movie-goers the notion that the scene was set in....Rome. As Nuvolari pointed out, they probably "stole" it off the "stolen" Alfa in the parking lot!
Thanks very much Walter for your help though.

PS - It strikes me that the Bologna plate from the front of my Countach was probably stolen off a Fiat. LOL.
