haha i agree ill take 10 slk's....no really mercedes needs to work on DESIGN on alot of their cars. The 2009 SL is basically the same as the '03 but they just make the front look like the CLS...that certainly took alot of work and research

It looks okay. Reason why I said that is because I'm never a big fan of roadsters/convertibles. I always prefer coupes.

And you thought current depreciation on the SLR was bad. I have a feeling it's about to get a lot worse.

That interior is ugly compared to the original. I never liked the front end on the SLR so while more mundane, it's a welcome change to this observer. The original front is like an E-Type and an AMG had babies..

Those are very old pictures. That is the "concept" interior from the original SLR concept... many things have changed on the car since then, to what the production car came out as. The SLR roadster is supposed to be the same as the current SLR, sans roof...

    I'd take an SL65 instead.

The only NEW car that could elicit me to stroke that kind of check would be the new RR convertible.

Now that I look at the pictures I was thinking of, maybe not...

The original SLR concept photos, with the coupe and roadster in front of an "ice" wall had a similar front end and the less-busy side vent treatment.

Oh, here's the shots I was thinking of... seems the interior may be different in these shots:

I'll reserve my judgements until I drive one. Hopefully they will have a model available at Pebble.

The new Mercedes/McLaren SLS looks nice. Still under development.

"Mercedes and McLaren are planning to sell as many as 2000 "SLS" sports cars a year to rival the likes of the Ferrari F430, Lamborghini Gallardo and the V10 version of Audi's R8, according to the insiders at Brenda Priddy & Company. Although McLaren engineers are remaining tight-lipped about the project, sources say feasibility studies are currently being carried out on the car at one of MercedesÂ’ secret test centers in Germany.

McLaren is hoping to use carbon fiber construction for the new car, although there are doubts about the economic viability of using the material for a car with a projected price tag of about 150,000 Euros."

I talked to Jonathan Carrier(young bloke like 28y/o,also see Fifth Gear test of the SLR he is the one showing Tiff the car) who is the product development manager for Mac, and after a presentation he gave, i asked him what we should be seeing some mac in the future..he was very tight liped BUT did hint about a SLR roadster would be coming out as majority of sports car/super car sales are convertables especially in the U.S market.

Looks nice. I'm not much of a convertible/roadster fan though.

to be quite honest i think that the auto suits the SLR very well for what it was built for (GT) the Merc five speed does its duty very well, and not many boxes can handle that power. And if you really want a manual go CLK-GTR ;-) Mercedes is about luxury and power so thus a auto suits it. MHO.
