If you had to drive from Boston to L.A. and be there in 3 days, what car do you own or is available to you would you take? Would anyone take there ferrari? I would take my BMW 328 5 speed. BMWs eat highway.Oh, BTW you have to do all the driving.

I would take the Honda Odyssey out of the cars I have. The Ferrari is too flashy to make serious time, the Infiniti is less comfortable, the Tacoma is just oo slow, and the Ginetta is way too scary.

Between my Viper and 05' Mustang, I would take the stang. Great gas mileage and has NO problem with high speeds, even for a stock car.

I agree it would have to be something comfortable. A 1000 miles a day for 3 strait days is a lot of driving.

A Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI - they have a 623-mile range, they have 310hp (and 553lb-ft) and they're immensely comfortable. The perfect car for such an opportunity...

EDIT: top speed is only 130, which could present a minor problem. But it could cruise at 100 for literally ever, so that'd make up for it.

I did Raleigh, NC to LA in 3 days in a Ford Explorer and wanted to kill someone by the end of the trip.

I'd do it in a Lexus LS460 if I had to.

But I'd rather ship the SOB and hop on a plane.

If it had to be a car that I possess, it would be my '07 Chevy Tahoe.

Otherwise, a Maserati Quattroporte would be perfect for the job.

I would take my 02 Civic. It just seems to cruise smoothly at 100mph. The rest of my cars I have are my project cars which im still working on them. They always have a special at Avis.com for a Mid size car, 3 day rental (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) for $45 bucks plus tax and unlimited mileage anywhere in the US. The only problem is you have to return it back to the original spot you got the rental.

On second thought since it would be more comfortable I would take my 06 Acura TL. A lot more room and more pick-up than my 02 Civic.

In either case you are going to spend your life's savings in gas, or haven't you heard?

    (996 or 997) 911 turbo.

Brutally fast and effective long distance cruiser. Works like a hose. Supercar performance with no drama. There is no gap too small in which to pass.

Some might say its small-ish gas tank is a minus, but I say it just gives an excuse to stop and get out and stretch my legs.

Not a good idea. Both of those will beat you to death and eat you out of house and home
