    Hi,

Sorry for the duplicate post, tried the 308 section but no responses so far...

Anyone know what material the original inlet valves were made of?

Am just doing some work on my GT4, have had to take off one of the inlet manifolds (what a pain to remove!)

I think, my car must have had a top end rebuild at sometime, but was wondering what the original material for the valves would have been, the current inlet valves are non magnetic, so I assume stainless. Am hoping, if the inlets have been changes, so did the exhaust valves.....

Anybody know if the original inlet valves were stainless?

    Thanks

    Nigel

    I don't think they're stainless. I thought I read sodium somewhere.

I do not know, but I believe that only the exhaust valves are sodium filled. I believe that intakes are never sodium filled. I could be, and have been once before, wrong.

I do know that they are not completely made of sodium, though. They are hollow steel, the sodium turns to liquid and circulates to better cool the valve.

The exhausts were sodium filled steel alloy. AFAIK, the intakes are steel alloy.
