I just read that too. I read earlier in the day that one of his professors, not sure if it's the one that you are referring to, refused to give up his grades or writings citing privacy laws.

I almost punched my computer reading that. What are these professors seeking.

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18154759/site/newsweek/
    An IM during the event.

I'm listening to Michael Savage right now and he's discussing the possibility of him being on Prozac or something similar. He had on a, scientist I believe, who had been confronting the FDA for years about the dangers of this drug because of the increase in violence it causes.

    http://news.scotsman.com/health.cfm?id=1477962004

He also is wanting to know who the two people are who were taken down by police.

It's also believed the killer had "Ismail Ax" written on his arms. Reported by Fox News.

Has anyone heard the sound clip of the wacked out unknown English professor, last name Giovanni I think (been trying to find her name). She's just mumbling on and on at the memorial.

This whole thing has now turned into a circus.

I know we all have to get on with our lives, but I think having classes start back up tomorrow is ridiculous. How can kids concentrate on Monday, let alone tomorrow? Just two days after they witnessed mass carnage!

While it would appear he had major anger issues in NO WAY do those plays indicate a mass murder..lol...

Please... I wrote WAY worse stuff in school just to freak my teachers out... I used to draw pics of teachers with severed heads just to get a reaction out of them. You have to get your anger out somehow when you come from a bad/dysfucntional situation/home life.

Theres tens of thousands of kids out there as angry as this one ( as I was )and they arent shooting up their schools or hurting anyone... the difference between them and someone who 'flips', like this kid, is too complex for us to understand but it probably has some kind of genetic/biological component.

PS. Just about everyone I know is on Prozac or another antidepressant. Lets face it.. theres always going to be someone out there who has just the right combination of negative factors to allow them to do something like this. If Prozac was the trigger we'd be seeing a lot more of these things..but we dont.

Petty? Then be prepared for this to happen again and again. He chose the easiest and most readily available option. Yea you can claim he would have done it some other way but fact is he didn't and now 33 people are dead. R.I.P. to the deceased.

PS - not looking to argue over guns, just discussing reality of this tragedy.

PSS - I was reading that these mass murders don't snap but are calm and calculating in their plans to carry out the crime. Usually loners who withhold a lot of anger. Certainly upbringing and most likely a chemical imbalance plays into their demise.

The slant is all over the mainstream TV tonight. The news media has already changed this into a gun control prop, YET, at no time did the media air if the government went overboard when they killed those poor children with armored tanks at Waco.

They dont snap in that one day they wake up and go kill people..it is something that brews within for a long time.

They do snap in the sense that at some point they make a commitment to themselves that they WILL commit the crime while hundreds, if not thousands, of others have had similar thoughts but then dont mfollow through.

What did you expect from the media ? They just want ratings and polarization.

    Its all propoganda.

Anyone who is commited enough to go on a shooting rampage will find a way..they dont need guns. The argument that guns make it easier is ridiculous as well..

I was about to make a comment, then I realized you're from LA :). But seriously, everyone you know is on some sort of anti-depressant? I'm not knocking you or the people you know as it seems that there are way too many people on that, but it's a pretty sad statement on our society...

    No insult taken. All good.

But yeah.. Im not anymore but was for a long time..

Both my last two GF's. My assistant. Both my business partners,etc... I would say 75% realistically of everyone Im close to is on some kind of antidepresant. And even more are on Zanax...of which I still take.

I will also qualify the above by mentioning that most of the people I know came from far from idyllic childhoods. I only have one close friend that didnt have major substance abuse/molestation/crime/poverty prevalent in their formative years.

Back to topic... am I the only one that doesnt find the plays this kid wrote all that shocking ?

2 GF's, I can see why you'd be taking that shlt. ;) Must be an LA thing, I don't know anyone on that stuff. Add an over medicated society to the list of problems.

IMO, easy access to guns makes it the mass murder weapon of choice. Any other way and he may have been unsuccessful or just stopped after the first round of killings. But hey, don't worry guns aren't going anywhere soon as their lobby is too powerful.

If someone is determined to do something, they will. For example, hate crimes that use a baseball bat can kill someone just as well but no one's blaming Sports Chalet. People run over people on purpose all the time, why don't they blame the manufacturer for not having softer bumpers?

+1 again. I don't know any one specific person taking anything of that sort. I feel like if people are in such a position in their life where they need pills to be alright, it's a direct reflection of their OWN actions. If I was forced into a situation where it affected me negatively, I'd get out, avoid it. I don't mean to sound harsh but America is freedom afterall isn't it? Change your habits and decisions

“It’s sort of a manifesto” attacking rich, spoiled students, one of the sources told The Post.

A second note was found near Cho’s body, also containing obscenities and denunciations of “rich kids,” the source told The Post."

Let's try making some new friends :

For sure it isn't legally the gun that made the attack (unlike a dog...), it remains clear that it did help alot to reach this "nice" body count.
Let's face it, nowadays, i don't really think the US is that more dangerous than France for example for a tourist. However, the odds of being killed by your husband because you just had words with him, or your neighboor because you keep on drilling that hole in the wall at 2AM or by some lunatic that has his bad five minutes are indeed higher, simply because when the urge for vengeance reaches its apex, it's easy to fullfill it in a lethal way.
We have a "similar" problem in Switzerland with army rifles. Each Swiss man going to the army (every year again and again) stores at home his military equipment, including the assault rifle. Those are reponsible for like 99 % of all shootings happening, simply because again, the odds of being killed by a family relative or a neighboor are a billion times higher than being killed by Hanibal Lecter's best friend. And if those people have a gun at home and you get into troubles with them, they will shoot you. Without a gun, maybe they'll try to stab you (here you already have better chances to survive), or to slap you (who cares...)
But anyway, in the end, that'll all cause just another tiny wave of "ban the guns", before it'll get forgotten.
