I'm interested and would like to hear from others how they liked it.

I put this question in a regional section, but it received no response.

I haven't done it, but I've read some good things from people who have.

I bet an Fchat search would reveal more info on it.

I like all the Ferrari-sponsored events I've seen. They ain't cheap, though!

For what it's worth, the last Ferrari-sponsored event I went to (Ferrari Challenge race) had the best looking females in attendance of ANY event that I've ever been to in my entire life, period!

One reason is that I just don't think that that many people actually participate in them (for a variety of reasons.)

Interesting that someone agreed with me so quickly (about the hot women, I'm assuming.)

I bet that the FORMULA ONE races, in MONACO, would be the Mecca for great-looking women....can I get an "amen" on that brotherds??

Went on the Ferrari NA Challenge Rally in 2003. Started in Tahoe and ended up in Monterrey for the Pebble Beach car show.

There were 50 Ferraris on the rally. An Enzo (which was the first one I had seen in person back then), and a few Ferraris 20+ years old.

Most of the people were great. Some took it way too seriously.

Very competitive. Really couldn't enjoy the views. Started at 8 AM each day and ended at 5 or 6 PM with 90 minutes for lunch. Too much like work. Would be fine if you drove in the mornings and then had the afternoon to sightsee or just hang out.

Glad we did it once, but we would not ever do it again. Met some great people.

Think there was a previous post on this several weeks ago. try SEARCH.

    Hope this helps.

Funny..we went on that same rallye. Had a TdF 360 Spider.

Anyway..it was too much like work. There were spots around Lake Tahoe I would have loved to get out and take pictures..nope...stop watches are running and 20 Ferraris behind us.

Plus the police went ape**** after a few people mis-behaved. They came to the Hotel on the first night and did some scolding.

Our AC broke the first day and the FNA mechanics totally brushed us off...so we spent 3 days baking on our way to Monterey....turned out it was a 15 min fix..had they actually looked.

Very small chance of doing it again

    What's mine is mine,
    What's yours is negotiable.

Unless it's written in the contract it's just a PR expense.

to my knowledge, Ferrari does very little advertising per se.

    A Ferrari Story.

We went on the Ferrari Challenge Rally from Tahoe to Monterrey/ Pebble Beach a few years ago. took the 1998 355 F1 GTS.

Before we left we had to give them our VIN/SN and our tire size. I asked why. They told me that they were going to carry spare parts and tires in the transport in case someone ruined a tire. This sounded great.

Just before the rally started, I found that the plate behind the passenger seat had come loose. The scews had come out. So I went to the transport to get some screws. The Italian who greeted me said it would be no problem. Come back in 30 minutes. Very, very friendly. After doing this routine three times I finally went into the hallowed huge red Ferrari Transport to look for myself.

There was nothing in there except tools. No tires, no screws, no nothing. so I used my own duct tape to fasten the plate back on until I went to a hardware store. The screws cost 2 cents each.

It cost about $5,000 for two people to go on the rally. this included room and board in first class accomodations for 4 or 5 days. Free wine and beer. Very nice. Great favors...Ferrari coats and duffle bags. Beautiful.

The problem is: don't tell me you are going to have tires and parts and then not deliver. This is poor business practice IMHO.

Lesson learned: Italians are great at telling you what they think you want to hear, but you better have it in writing.

Another story on the same trip. The President of our region's FCA Chapter could not get his convertible top to work. Stuck in half position. There was nothing in the transport to help him. He ended up having a friend drive him to Ferrari of San Francisco to get the part. The people in the transport helped him put it in. He lost a day of the rally to get the part. He was so mad he couldn't talk for a whole day. He thought FNA should have had the part delivered to us.

On the other hand, I needed a part to go on the ralley. when I called FNA to cancel because my car was out of service, they promised me that the car would be able to run in the ralley. The expedited the parts and it was fixed in record time. Never had such good service before or since.

Lesson Learned: Ferrari can work wonders if they WANT to. In this case they were looking at losing my ralley money and they really went to work.

    Bottom line: I think it's money. It's a business.

I did the Wine Country to San Fran to Monterey in 05. I thought it was great, first class and great roads .

I also did Oregon/Washington last year.

    Came home with 3 souveniers.

    A speeding ticket in Washington
    A speeding ticket in Oregon

And most importantly , the second place trophy !

I would describe them as competitive, first class, fun, expensive and terrific roads and scenery.

Pony up the dough and enjoy

Also signed up for Virginia this year, hope to see some of you !

Was that the one where there was an accident (fatality) and subsequent lawsuits in which FNA walked away from any responsibility?

Why would FNA be responsible? What happened?

FNA used one of the participants truck and trailer to haul the bags. The bags shifted. Some say they were not put in the trailer correctly. I don't know.

When the bags shifted the driver hired by FNA lost control of the truck. At least one person in an oncoming vehicle was killed.

I do not know the arrangement that FNA had with the owner of the truck.

An insurance agent told me that the insurance claim is usually filed on the owner of the insurance on the truck.

It is between FNA and the truck owner. Our bags were late, but unhurt. Ferrari never made an official statement that the event even happened. They just apologized for the bags being late. they may have told others, but not us. Everything I know is hearsay.

This put a real pall over the remainder of the trip. A very unfortuneate situation for everyone.
