I am not an owner, but an admirer and a hopeful future owner. I was wondering how you deal with all of the road damage that has occurred this past winter. I assume that it is difficult to navigate the broken pavement. How do you handle it?

Things seem to be in pretty rough shape on local Boulder roads (Iris, 28th), especially at or near intersections. There has been a lot of repair but still, things are quite rough in places (like night and day from, say, October).

However, I was just out the other day on Boulder Canyon Dr., the Peak to Peak Highway, and 7, and they all were in much better shape; I don't recall noticing anything, actuall.

How much gravel was still on the roads Mike? I did a little drive on Saturday up the Poudre and then over to Masonville on Stove Prairie Road. There was still gravel is some places on HWY 14 and some places were still heavily graveled on Stove Prairie. This caused some excitement with the tail kicking out in some of the corners.

That's strange, when I went though Poudre on Sunday it didn't seem to be much gravel. It doesn't seem to be so much damage to the road this year to other years, just a little more gravel then most.

I live in deer creek canyon - still a lot of gravel on the road up here, but absolutely zero potholes. i avoid potholes by NOT going into the city...

    :) :) :)

I did not notice too much gravel as of a few weeks ago (was out in the Murano). Your route sounds fun!

There is not a lot of gravel on 14 most of it was in the middle of the road where I noticed it the most. More of a worry if you have someone in front of you. Not that I have to worry about Mike being in front of me. :)

I thought of creating some kind of "Pothole Locator" thread, but there are so many in my neck of the woods (I-70 west of 25) I abandoned the idea.

I will say, if you're traveling up I-70 from Golden, or down from the mts., move over and stay in the left lane. Of course, this is the best place for a Ferrari, but if you linger in the other two lanes you will likely encounter some sizable holes.

Regarding gravel, inside the left and right medians the roads seem to be mostly gravel free aside from the occasional fine strip of small pebbles inline with the lane dividers. However, if cars ahead of you move just slightly into the median they will be kicking gravel your way.

    Never follow large trucks.

You can't see the potholes and they kick up any gravel or sand in front of you. Have to be especially careful passing a large truck too.

I try to stay off the four lanes and interstates. Too many trucks and to many speed traps.

    Good luck.
