Hope its not a repost - that Patrol must have some crazy mods.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfCv40_qORs
It just proves that speed isn't nearly as important as looking good as you're getting there!!! Which one would you rather have???
That is what I always say. My friend used to give me crap when "The Fast and The Furious" came out about the Supra beating the 355. I just said, "You can build any car to beat another, but at the end of the day that guy is driving home in a Ferrari and you are still in a Supra." I would rather have a rolled, burned out 308 than a fast Supra, Eclipse or whatever else is from Japan. However, I do like the NSX, but maybe because it looks like a baby F40.
Funny... I think a buddy of mine said it best: "Yeah, but the guy in the Ferrari still went home with the hot chick while Paul Walker went home with Vin Diesel..."
saw this a while ago, cant really understand it, and as they probably weigh about the same that's not it.patrol's gotta have one hell of a lotta torque which they do stock anyway so its quite possible with some huuuuge turbo's that that could unfortunately happen quite easily.
Some of these SUV's will make almost anything look stupid off the light..I got smoked by a done up Ford F150 Lightning on the highway..I was driving a 360!!
Lightnings are damn quick. If they have the right setup with mods and gearing they'll beat a lot of ****. My friend had one and he surprised a lot of people. I don't think I'd want to go that fast in an SUV. Been there, done that. Scary!
Which would you rather have a nice Lamborghini or a SUV with some mods. I think the choice is pretty obvious.
Greg Z and I were having a "friendly" race a couple of weeks back...him in his Lotus Esprit, and me in a new Mustang GT...(interesting race...). While headed out to a deserted road, we came across a late model Lightening with a crazy lope..the think looked 100% stock, but it had this crazy lope. The guy followed us out, and watched the race...when we stopped at a gas station after the run, he got out and showed us the truck. It had been modded to death! He told me with the right launch, he has seen 10.2 & 10.3 consistently at the track. Jokingly he said he would have passed us both if his 12 month old son had not been in the truck! (Sure enough, little man was sitting there in his car seat chillin'). The thing is, those lightenings can be made silly with a pully mod & some other slight mods...when you pull next to those trucks, you never know what you are going to get. Yeah, obvious choice! HOWEVER, sleepers are sooooo much fun! The look on people's face when your 1991 corolla takes their Vette from stoplight to stoplight is PRICELESS!
I still have some more mods to do, need another hundred horsepower, but I'm up to about 620 HP in my g-wagen now. http://youtube.com/watch?v=Olz2F-LJyoE It's basically just for fun, really drives the mid life crisis vette owners crazy at the stop light, well not the Z06 boys but the regular ones. lol
No disrespect intended, but who has to pick between one or the other. I'm bet he has both if he wants, I know I would. I'm not into owning only 1 vehicle.
To be running a 10.3 he would of had to be spraying on top of a Kenne Bell blower and most likely a built engine. In my mag I get the 2 fastest lightings were in the 9's but the rest were in low 10's. This is with one heck of a tire and a built engine.
The engine was built, and he was not running the factory blower set-up. I don't recall seeing any NOS set-up, but then again, I was too busy admiring the engine & headers. He admitted to me that he was on his third engine because he blew the other two experimenting with mods & set-ups. This guy was the real deal. He popped the hood and showed Greg Z & I the engine, blower, pully set up, forced air, etc. There was very little stock appearing under his hood, and everything looked professionally done. He told us that he, his father, and his uncle built the engine. Apparently, these guys run dirt tracks around central Louisiana and have a great deal of experience building fast motors. I have quite a bit of experience around drag racing & cars built to be 1/4 mile missiles...Trust me, this guy had a 10 second truck.
