What type of ferrari do you own? What type of tire? Any other mods or is the car stock? http://www.putnampark.com/
*Hand goes up* I know, I know! Pete, I will have you know that I personally thank Mr. Andial for enriching my fuel mixture everytime my car goes to full boost... B-Mak, what are you packing? You know I have a 930, FerrariPete has a 930, and god only knows what kind of Porsche VRAlex will show up with to rape you, but the million dollar question is: what are you gonna back your claims up with? The time for talking about nice interiors and dash quality is over...lets talk PERFORMANCE.
How in the hell did all of these children get soo many days off school? Go eat some iced cream and watch cartoons until you're mommies send you off with your mittens.
You guys are killing me. I've owned a few from both marques and the cars are totally different in so many respects. Given comparable cars, my bet is on the driver, not the car. As to whether the cars themselves are comparable, straight out of the box, unmodified, I'd be interested in seeing some statistics (eg, 997 TT vs. 430), but frankly, most Porsches that see the track have been worked on. And, they can be vicious. All the stuff about elegance, the aura of mystery, etc. is great. But, let's say you don't need that at the moment- you've got a garage full of choices, so no one can accuse you of merely settling for a mass market 'appliance.' (Ahem). What would you want to drive? For what purpose? There's your answer. My GT2 was too brutal for a Sunday street cruiser, and frankly, I don't have the kind of wheel time at the track to make any claims about my racing abilities, but it was an extremely fast car in stock form that, with a few mods, made for a real thrill ride. Made the 550 Maranellos I had seem way too fat and sluggish, even if they were far more 'elegant' in their interior appointments than the Porsche. I would think that the F40 would be in the same category. I am not a big fan of turbos, because I don't like the binary quality of their acceleration. A normally aspirated car, which is light, would be the ticket in my estimation. I'm also told that the 430 is very fast, but have yet to drive one. And it does have the panache of a modern Ferrari, FWIW. But, panache can only take you so far. I have a 6.0 Diablo which is gorgeous, powerful and a total pig. Will move along nicely once you are rolling- and has oodles of torque, great sound, and screams italian exotic like few cars in that price range, under 200k dollars. I find myself driving my 993 more often, because it is simply fun to drive. I could honestly care less if my Porsche is not 'recherche' or makes hot young chicks swivel. But, I'm not driving just for the mystique that surrounds me. I have had a hoot in a pre-war Lagonda, and look forward to driving an old Alfa in Sicily this summer. As to the challenges, I think it would be terrible for someone to go to the track to get their ass kicked based on an Internet provocation over which car is 'faster.' I would hate to see someone hurt or killed over hubris.
The funny part is it all started over a rhetorical challenge, to which I at most expected rhetorical responses. The point was if you HAD to win a long-distance endurance race...what car would you choose? I can't think of a more reliable, more potent choice than a 911 turbo. Which gets back to the question of whether Porsches are overhyped. The very notion is absurd. It may not float everyone's boat (which apparently needs fine stiching and aromatic leather to be a top notch racingr boat - lol), but the cars are incredible at what they do.
OK B-puss, have you agreed to the challenge? Where are you guys going to throw down, and what F-car are you going to race? Don't make us add a "Y" to your new name
Ridiculous, hammer, Scary, mind boggling is more like it hahah... But yea, i finally found my love, after exploring, building many cars, i found it Now only if i can get my Italian in the garage with it, i keep going back and forth between the two, and realized i need both
yes...you need both! i cannot do w/o both so i understand your need!! i'm here to support you my friend. have a great weekend. pcb
Haha yea man, im still adding stuff and dialing it in for track season, just got my BBS lmgt race wheels with RA1's cut, 335's should give me good traction, right now in the 60-70 degree weather today 2nd gear fries tires and the back end doesnt give you warning, just whips out to greet you, but im use to cars with no traction (especially in my lightweight supercharged/stripped E46 M3) ... The car has almost NO LAG, sounds like a Gallardo while accelerating slowly, no turbo noise just an exotic resonance, RUF builds AMAZING cars i must say, i can see what all of the hype is about But anyway yea the car is a big handful, but with the Motons and dialed in its much much more confidence inspiring and lets you know what is going on at all times, with the LWFW and clutch the throttle response is right there and along with the low clearance k24 hybrids its a masterpiece of a setup, you can control power so nice without the spooling then rush of power coming out of a turn, much more predictable and controlable!! Cheers guys
martin, i was just telling cajun... ...when i want to go fast i go for a drive in my ferrari. when i want to go real fast i ride my motorcycle. but when i want to go out and beat up motorcycles...i take the porsche! i think you understand those sentiments!!!
Of all the cars I have ever owned, my hotted up boxster is with out a doubt the most fun car. PERIOD. I am going in to play with my small penis. See ya.
Hahaha without reading the rest i knew what you were going to say, because i WHOOP bikes (bikes within reason ) with my car and my previous turbo hah Cheers to you, im a Porsche guy for life, but also want an Italian!
Your boy (who I guess is crying in a corner somewhere) challenged several people foolishly for pinks while shooting his mouth off and insulting a great sportscar......now someone with the rig and driving skills (who ironically was ON the TV show pinks) answered the challenge. So where is the big talk now? And why are you acting like his Momma.....wait.......I get it.......you ARE his Mommy. My apologies Ma'am
