What would the loss in value be for say a used 360 with a retail of $150K that had a fender bender, $20K in repairs, all handled by a F. dealer? Replacement of front fenders, front bumper, and a couple of suspension parts.

Would it have lost $20K in value, or more or less?

I've spent a couple hours searching here, Google, etc., and not finding anything specific to F cars.

I would of have thought it would be the same, being that it was repaired by a F dealer and would have new parts/components fitted and new painted applied

Take the same car and examine it again in 5 years. 10 years? Buyers request a diminished value because you never know the quality and extent of repairs or how the workmanship will hold up.

They are cars, built, designed, and repaired by men where even high quality shops can do a less than perfect job. Maybe its not so much that the repair was poor, it might have turned out better than the rest of the car did from the factory. How about them apples? :D

I was in an accident with the XJ6 and have been rear ended at 10-15mph twice a year or two ago. I broke one of my main rear suspension support arms where it connects to the frame and one of the main supports. Broke the welds right off at the frame. This happened a full two years after the Ortega Highway accident and a year later after both rear end's and all I was doing was driving around normally, not even racing in canyons. Went up a driveway and BANG! The same danger/weakness to other parts after the accident will take time to rear their ugly head. You can't accurately measure the stress done to the surrounding components in the front clip.

$20K isn't a bad estimate. I don't think you'll get a precise dollar figure that is 'the real number'.

But the real issue is that 360s are very common Ferraris, so if you're looking to buy you have a lot of options. I would insist on original paint (except for stone chip-related respray on the bumper, if the car has any significant mileage on it). You can be very selective. Even the perfect ones are still dropping in price.

If you were looking at a factory Daytona spyder, this would be a very different discussion, IMO. Fewer cars to choose from, and after 35+ years probably most of them have had paintwork and many have been hit. If it was a minor hit and properly and professionally repaired, I wouldn't pass on the car. All of these cars need(ed) restoration anyway, and if you know who did the work on it -- i.e., Maaco shouldn't be doing work on handmade Ferraris -- and it's someone qualified, it 's probably fine.

For the in-between cars -- Boxer, 308/328, TR, 348 -- nearly all of them that have actually been driven seem to have had paintwork at some point, either for stone chips, scratches or minor accidents. A PPI by someone with mechanical knowledge should include an underside inspection for damage - cracked frame, etc. The exception would be the fleet of investment red/tan '89 328s -- there seem to be hundreds of these in time capsule condition. I would wait for a perfect one.
