    If you have to ask...

The car is for sale in Germany. Was on EBAY a month or two ago reached over a quarter million without meeting it's reserve.

Ebay pulled the ad, finally figured out that it was a scam. The ad appeared a couple of months ago and they pulled it after a week or so. Gees, these Ebay people seem a bit slow to catch onto these scams. Are the sellers of items like this not required to show proof of ownership?

Just my luck: After months without searching I decide to browse their Ferraris and on that day, a big scam is posted. Oh well.

Ebay does NOT actively scan their listings looking for fraud, they rely on members to report it. Meg Whitman claims that eBay is only a venue for buyer and seller to meet and transact, so eBay has no responsibility for the content or items being sold.

It is not unique to the single day on which you chose to look; scams are prevalent everyday on FLEABAY.
