I am in the process of changing my CV joint boots (84 gts qv). I have boot kits 92833292402 (just like the first picture from member Dave)

But the boots in this kit are not flat on the ID where they connect to the cv joint flange, the boots have a half round rubber ridge that looks like it is supposed to go into a matching groove on the joint flange.

Putting the boot on makes the edge of boot not set flat and does not look right (2nd picture from Daves post)

My joint flanges are flat, like Daves 3rd picture.

Is this just the way it is?
or do I have some wrong parts, should I be using 92333203700 ?

    Wha'da ya think ?

I agree. I would want the correct boots installed.

I bought one set from a Ferrari part shop, I just got the other side from Rock Auto w porsche part number. Amazing you get the boot, two clamps, a snap ring and two tubes of grease for less than $8.00.

    Porsche part number 928 332 924 02

They were flat, perfect match for my '83 QV GTSi

That's the exact part number I have, but the boots have the lip made into them (maybe WorldPak has them mis-labeled?) ....Larry

Mine did not look like that. I'll try to post a picture.

Actually I have a couple boots left over if you want them. I bought extra, just 'cause I wanted the extra clamps as I had wrecked a couple.

PM me if you want them.

Thanks Chris, I ordered a kit from McCann.
Others have used them and the picture on his website looks correct....

The clamps from McCann are hard to deal with, I could not get them tight enough. I bought the tool from NAPA and the clamps were not long enough to be able to use the tool.

I used McCanns clamps, and they went on fine. I just bough this tool and it crimped them down snuggly.

    http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=1286801&cp=2568450.2628076.2628235.1259472&pg=4&parentPage=family

I agree, I fought with them until I had the correct tool to tighten them. I thought these pliers might just cut through the clamps, but it was no where sharp enough. I had a couple of spare clamps to practice with, so that helped some.

    thanks guys.
when I get the boot kits (and mess something up) I'll be back with more questions.
(I removed the original clamps very carefully and may reuse then if necessary)
Good thing I got a new motorcycle to ride in the meantime.

Please don't reuse them and the clamps with the kit are a real hassle. Go to Napa and buy this tool and the matching bands. It's the way to go, trust me!

    Tool is part # 3191 $23 / Bands are part # 42-65790 $6.

I received the boots from Dennis McCann, they were flat and fit properly. The clamps were the same design as the ones shown in the first three picrures. The McCann kit does not come with enough grease, but it is very reasonably priced, so if you use this kit, buy some grease.

In my opinion, the kit shown in post #1 (92833292402) is incorrect for 1984 qv.

    the flat type McCann boots:

Do you have a p/n and supplier for the McCann boot kit? Would this be the same kit for a '86 Mondial 3.2? One more question - does the 'kit' include inner and outer boots, or just one?

    This is what I used:

    part number CVK4
CV JOINT BOOT KIT 4 BOOTS 8 CLAMPS AND GREASE, DINO THRU TESTAROSSA $52.00

(although I reused my original clamps) flame gaurd on.
oh yeah, I needed way more grease than what was supplied.
