I think it's awful on all accounts....

Terrible to talk to your daughter that way and terrible they released this to the public. By doing this it makes Basinger look like a *****....

 

I think he's a typical hollywood social elitist, he admits he made an A** of himself and he is an A** !! I wish he would have kept his promise & left the USA when President Bush was re-elected. This guy is not even trying to make a joke (be "funny" as Imus), maybe he too should be fired...
Intimidate a 12...11..yr old...heck he doesn't even know her age!

Seems just like a angry parent. He was quite reserved I thought. Articulate of his anger, but never crossing the line, IMO.

I think it's funny that the former nuttiest Baldwin, Stephen, seems to have become the most normal.

 

Not too bright on his part leaving a recorded message considering it could be and was leaked. If she had the phone tapped and leaked that I wonder what kind of hot water she'd be in?

 

To say that to an 11 year old child is unforgiverable.

To say that to YOUR 11 year old daughter is ABUSE.

I hope Basinger gets full custidy leaked or not...

When I heard it on YouTube before, I didnt think it was that bad. But then I realized the daughter was 12 years old and after that I realized he was an idiot.

 

Totally unacceptable that he lost it like that and used that kind of language on his child...however I think it is also totally unacceptable that Basinger and her lawyer leaked the recording to the media.

CNN is talking about it as I type and they keep saying "someone leaked it"

Who could the "someone" possibly be? Geez.

 

Just because hes a big mouth know it all liberal. He should have to go to 5 years of anger managment and sensativity training.

 

If you think cutting down and belittling your child is acceptable behavior I think you need to rethink parenting. It's one thing to teach responsibility, it's another to think you deserve respect. Respect is earned......... to many parents think it's their right. I hope this was a "one-off" for him. If he talks to his children this way, even in just a few instances, he really needs some help.

I am always wrong but, you're not! Really good analysis. You earn respect. Berating you child now will earn you lifelong disdain later. Berating your former spouse in front of your child will seal your fate.

Well... EYE don't think he crossed the line. But I think the only one that could say would be his daughter. If she feels degraded by his words, to the point where she's not learning that he's just angry, he's over the line.

If she's insulted by him calling her annoying, he's over the line.
If she's not insulted by him telling her to cut her throat, it's not over the line.

 

With all due respect. If a twelve year old girl is not ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIED when her father tells her to cut her throat, she might want to check into hearing therapy. WTF!

 

Yea, probably, I was meaning an isolated event.

Two identical girls, both raised "fine", one gets insulted by his words, the other not, he's only over the line in the case when she's insulted.

 

We dont have the back story so he may have been at his wits' end. But in any case, this really isn't the world's business and Basinger is a dooshbag for releasing it...
