http://www.nydailynews.com/news/2007/04/10/2007-04-10_its_jurisimprudence-2.html Jawad, Bruce, others...any thoughts??
Lol... True. But seriously: "I did not expect it to become so widespread," Dominguez told the Daily News in an e-mail yesterday. "I do not know how it was leaked." Come on. How stupid do you have to be. In this era of "leaked" sex tapes and sex scandals, you are ASKING for trouble if you do something like this. There is no law against it (or even, technically, any ethical bar rule, at least in NY if I recall correctly from when I was admitted), but it WILL be badly looked upon by the character and fitness evaluators when she is being evaluated and even if she does get admitted (which she likely will barring any other indiscretions or another reason), that's the least of her worries. She's an idiot if she thinks this isn't going to create problems with opposing counsel. It damages her credibility and makes her a laughing stock, at minimum. And what happens if and when she's up for partner and someone passes some stills of this around the table??? Dumb Move.
at Saint Thomas Law we had a chick who later became a porn star Susan something she was on howard Stern show once
the Court requires more fact finding; will someone please introduce the link to this alleged pornographic video as evidence so that the Court, sua sponte, can make a determination?
Howard Stern used to show that clip often, super hot babe Susan Selles. Googled it, noone has copies lol " Jurist Erotic"
Well, there's one Ivy League education and three years of law school flushed down the toilet. Yes, it is true that this country is way too sensitive to issues sexual. Sure, it shouldn't matter. But will it? You bet. I doubt if there is a significant law firm that will touch her at this point (pun intended). No public agency is going to want her working there, nor would most companies, for fear the video will circulate, cause embarassment, or result in other problems. Maybe she could get a job with the ACLU working on free speech cases. I doubt if it will stop her from getting admitted to the bar, but even so, who is going to hire her? I know -- she can be in-house counsel for Playboy Enterprises. Actually, having just paid for two college and graduate school educations for my kids, the ones I feel sorry for are her parents. They didn't need to pay for all that education to have their daughter pursue a career as a stripper.
You teach at Brooklyn? Interesting, I know some people who teach there, probably don't know you though, I've asked a few people who've taught/given seminars and stuff there and only a few know each other.
<sarcasm>europe is just so much better.......</sarcasm> ha, no one take offense to this... PorscheTurboS get it...
Thanks for the video Zach... heard being talked abt on the radio and wanted to see it for myself. IMO though she comes off as a ditz, the video itself is harmless to the legal community and the BAR. People really shld just chill. I say allow her to graduate, sit for the exam, and let the firms decide.
Greg, I think you miss the point. As I stated before, I doubt that this will stop her from getting admitted to the bar, assuming she passes the bar exam. The issue for her is going to be finding a job. I've been a lawyer for 33 years and a partner in several different firms, big and small, including my current firm. I can tell you that most firms would not hire her, for fear of the internal issues a video like that would create within the firm, not to mention the problems with opposing counsel, judges, and other clients. And what public agency would hire her? Maybe the public defender's office, but even that is doubtful. A private company? Doubt it. Sure the video is harmless to the legal community, but it is not harmless to her career as a lawyer.
Law firms are, for the most part, extremely conservative. They are all about not making waves with their client base, before the courts, juries or other constituencies that they have to play to. They do not want to lose business because of someone's personal foibles. She could probably get a job with Ron Kuby, or like that. Personally, I could care less about the odd porn video in someone's past. It didn't seem to get in Hillary's way. Oh, wait a minute, that was actually a bestiality movie. And, she was playing opposite a human
+1... How are you Greg? Hope all's well. I agree with you and others that "we" (the US) as a society have a pretty anachronistic attitude about sex, but Steve is absolutely correct here... I'm not a partner just yet, but have worked in a few firms in my legal career and can tell you this WILL be a problem for this girl. Absolutely no doubt about that. She WILL NOT be taken seriously in many settings where that will harm her career. Maybe that shouldn't be the case, that's a whole other debate, but that's the way it is... Hope everyone in NYC/NJ is well. Miss hanging out with the crew... Cheers, Jawad from Philly.
Where was this attorney when we got Popped in Warren just about a year ago. Id hire her. (SMILE) Talk about a HUNG JURY.
What the hell are you talking about. I would so hire her. Then I could be like free lap dance with every case. Even if you lose the case, at least youd feel good cause youd have a girl dancing on you. What a great business idea, stripper lawyers! Our first customer....Joey.
BRO!! You said it... How are you?? How's the family? Haven't seen you in forever. I'm going to make a special trip up sometime just so we can have a beer. Ha ha ha ha... First, second and third customer.... Joey. (What's up Joey! How's the Murcie hunt going?)
Lets say David Boise did a gay vid with someone spanking his ass. Could he represent Al Gore? If your professional opportunities will be limited for years by what you do, maybe you should not do it in public.
