No, no, you mis-understand me. Nobody is offended. I was just trying to say that the origin of this thread was people's actual photos and negatives scanned, rather than book and magazine articles. There's nothing wrong with book and magazine articles, but perhaps only when a particular topic appears rather than just random scanned images from books.
The pictures are great, adds to the topic and can sometimes clear up a few mysteries...

2000 Touring, I admire your enthusiasm and the rest of you guys are doing a great job. Who is driving this car and what is the car he is pulling up behind?

I have some photos of either the '71 or '72 LeMans on my blog, www.rpmvt.com/blog, there are some well known men in the Ferrari world who looked a little younger!
I am interested to know if these photos are from '71 or '72.
I will keep posting them until the stash of slides are all digitized.

    Le Mans 1962; 250TRI s/n 0794 pulling up behind 250GTO s/n 3223, both entered by NART.

So it's Buck Fulp or Peter Ryan driving the TR..............don't know which.

Referring to the fotos on your blog from '71.

The Daytona on the scales would probably have been the Chinetti/Grossman car which ran as #58 and was chassis 12467.

The other pics of the #22 car are not Le Mans, could be Monza but more likely Sebring or Daytona (not sure anyway!)

    grandprix.com Encyclopedia:

    DRIVERS: PETER RYAN
    Name: Peter Ryan
    Nationality: Canada
Date of birth: June 10, 1940
Date of death: July 2, 1962 - Reims

Canada's Peter Ryan made his mark in a race at Harewood Acres, near Jarvis, Ontario, a former military airfield which was Canada's premier racing facility until the opening of opening of Mosport Park in 1961. The 19-year-old was driving a Porsche RSK in the Carling 300 sports car race. Roger Penske won all three heats but Ryan was second and Penske was impressed. Thus the two men joined forces to compete in the O'Keefe Sundown Grand Prix that autumn, winning the event in their RSK.

The following year Ryan won the Canadian Grand Prix, a sports car race that year, at Mosport, beating the likes of Stirling Moss (in an identical Lotus), Jo Bonnier and several other international aces who had turned up to pick up some prize money. That autumn he drove an ex-works Lotus 18 for J Wheeler Autosport in the United States Grand Prix and finished ninth.

This earned him the chance to race in Europe, contesting the Formula Junior series in an Ian Walker Racing Lotus 22. His obvious speed also attracted the attention of Luigi Chinetti of the North American Racing Team. He raced a Ferrari 248 at Daytona and Sebring and then appeared at Le Mans in a NART Ferrari 250 GTO, partnered by John Fulp, Bob Grossman and Fireball Roberts.

A month later he was racing in the Coupe de Vitesse des Junior race at Reims. He collided with Bill Moss's Gemini and was thrown from his Lotus. He suffered serious internal injuries and died soon afterwards, at the age of only 22.

I am going to agree with Jeremy about the date and the Daytona on the scales, first year for the Daytona at Le Mans and pretty stock looking.

The other #22 pictures are Sebring.

I am going way out on a limb here and taking some guesses on the garage scenes from Le Mans 1971.

Left Side View with two mechanics – from the shape of the windscreen (Porsche screen) I am going to guess the #7 Filipinetti 512M/F, 1048, driven by Parkes and Pescarolo.

Rear View two mechanics – this has to be the #14 NART 512S spyder, 1006, driven by Eaton and Gregory.

Rear View one mechanic – my guess is the #12 NART 512M, 1040, driven by Posey and Adamowickz. Pretty much based upon the narrow stripes on the tail against the wall.

Great pictures, please keep them coming.

Definitely in France. They are french policemen and the word "Pneus" is the french word for "tires". It's at Le Mans, not Reims-Gueux.

Are you talking about pic #028-799132?
    If so, I'm about sure it's the Nart's #1020.
Have a look at the far left. You'll see a part of the front body with the holes, wich was only used, afaik, only by the Nart.
And the rear body of the spider is seen on the right, between the two peoples

    Philippe,

My thinking was that 038-774181 was the NART Spyder 1006; 029-784452 was the Filipinetti 512M/F 1048; and that 028-799132 was the NART 512M 1020.

Therefore, you are right, I wrote down the wrong number and put 1040 instead of 1020. Shame on me.

    Thanks,

    Gramps
