It seems that the 575 and 360 spiders for the same years are about the same price, and the 360 Modena about 20-30K less. Bearing that in mind, which one is the better buy, for future depreciation. Is the 360 going to depreciate faster due to the much large numbers available out there, or is the 575 going to depreciate faster due to 599's and newer ferraris styling changes, dating the car even more?

What about Maintenance, which is worse?

Jeepers, that's alot of information you are looking for. I suggest you search in each respective sections and learn about each model. And drive each one; excepting the similar years of construction, you are all over the map on the type of cars. A 360 spider is a very different car from a 575.

All 3 will depreciate. Who knows where they will land. I wouldn't buy any for an investment, so I'd be more concerned about which car is the most enjoyable to you. Unless you are looking to impress the neighbors, in which case you will want the open top :)

    And welcome to the fun!

    +1. Buy them to drive.

In the very long run, spiders hold their value better than coupes (and not just among Ferraris - the MB Gullwing is a rare exception). But all of these cars have significant depreciation left in them. How much is a guess, but you really need to go back to the Boxers and 308/328s to find Ferraris that have hit bottom and headed up (Boxers especially).

V12 maintenance costs are typically more than V8s, all other things being equal.

IMO, the 575 styling is classic. The 360/430 - hard to say.

    We can only speculate....

I'd have to agree that it's an exercise in futility to think of these cars as investment....but we all still do it anyways, so entertaining that thought, I'd have this to figure:

The 360 Modena is probably your best bet of the 3 listed

The 575 is beautiful, but all things considered it's a model/line that is far more obscure and less recognizable then the 360. The 360 is the V8-line and the most popular....you'll have more demand for that model. For every buyer looking to find a 575, there's probably 20x that amount of buyers looking for 360's. Demand is always a major component. So is supply, but still...I think the market will hold 360 prices higher. I think the maintenance will be higher and the parts more expensive for the 575.

    Down to the 360....

The spider will now cost about $25k-$35k more....but in many years to come do you still think that spread will be maintained??? Nope. The spider will probably maintain it's percentage of being 20-25% higher, but over the years the actual dollar difference will get closer. Simple fact, just look at the 348 or 355 models.

Another issue is that the 360 Modena is going to cost you less up front...that saves money on the outlay and continues to save money in the form of registration, insurance and taxes.

So dollar-per-value....the 360 Modena has my vote as being the car that will cost you the least in the long-haul, financially speaking.

As for fun, I LOVE a convertible...so if I'm gonna blow some coin on a stunningly beautiful go-fast exotic car, it darn well better be a convertible. From my perspective, the best bet dollar-per-smiles is the 360 spider.

Like I say....it's pointless to discuss Ferrari's from an investment standpoint...but we ALL do it anyways. :)
