A buddy of mine used to live in europe and went to monaco a few times, he said its amazing there and as far as cars are concerned, exotics are a regular thing, like honda civics.
Nice spottings, Alan! Does anybody know how the black SLR could have the UK rear licence plate with black background? It looks proper with the color of the car.
There was an excellent article in EVO but here is some info... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gumpert_Apollo http://www.gumpert.de/
my favorite pic in this set is the one of the phantom with the new body style (if it's even new, considering 02 was the last year of this model) corniche in the background
The SLR plate is from Guernsey so not technically a British plate. Black and white plates like that are meant to be banned on cars beyond 1973 (or 1975, not sure exactly when!) but plenty of newer cars, usually black ones have this style of plate. I have seen a few Mercedes, Range Rover and Porsche models, some even brand new with the black and white plates. They might be illegal, but the police never seem to mind and they really suit black cars IMO.
Thanks for the explanation, V15ben. After a couple of minutes of googling, I found that the five-digits style like the SLR's has reached the end of possible number combinations in the 1960s. Talking about the possibility of what we're talking about here are Old Money territory. But I too agree with your sentiment, it really suit black cars like the SLR. Also the police according to your story, seems to have similar thoughts like us!
the MC12 behind the trees is nice.. I cant imagine living in a place like that, id never get anything done. id sit on the curb and watch all day
I remember the first time I was in Monte Carlo back in summer '87 and I took pics of the Lambo LM 002 in front of the casino. Lots of other exotics on the street but what impressed me the most was when I saw a Grandpa driving a Mondial Cabrio on a sunday afternoon. I immediately told myself : "This is the place I wanna be when I retire". Cool place
just out of curiosity, that motorcycle/moped/kart, whatever it is, that says carver on the back of it, how much do those go for?
